Hey everyone,
I'm excited to announce that hive-nectar
version 0.0.8b (beta) is now available for testing directly from the GitHub repository!
This update is pretty focused, with the only file that was actually touched being the nectar.community
module. I've gone through and fixed up the API calls within that module to ensure they are working as expected.
More significantly, I'm proud to officially say that with this release, I have begun the process of adding type hints to the hive-nectar
library! For now, these initial type hints are primarily within the nectar.community
module, but this marks the start of a larger effort.
My intention is to eventually add type hints to the entire project. I know this will be a gradual process, but it's a step I believe is important for improving code clarity, maintainability, and making it easier for other developers to understand and use the library with confidence (and with better support from linters and IDEs).
Since the main changes are within the community functionalities, I'd love it if anyone who uses those features (or is just curious) could test out this beta version.
You can install it directly from the main
branch on GitHub to get the latest:
https://github.com/TheCrazyGM/hive-nectar
(You might typically use a pip command like pip install git+https://github.com/TheCrazyGM/hive-nectar.git@main
or with uv add "hive-nectar @git+https://github.com/thecrazygm/hive-nectar"
to install or upgrade to this specific branch).
Once I know it's not causing any major problems and the community features are working smoothly for those who test it, I'll push the official 0.0.8 release to PyPI.
If you're looking for a quick way to play with some of the community calls or see how I was doing some basic testing, I've put the script I was using into a Gist:

Your feedback during this beta phase would be invaluable. Please report any issues you encounter or any unexpected behavior with the community functions on the GitHub repository.
Thanks for helping make hive-nectar
better!
As always,
Michael Garcia a.k.a. TheCrazyGM
I've really got to get into coding, especially with Python, since it's not exactly difficult. Excellent work, my friend! @borniet, take a look! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Never before seen community metadata! Great updates for 0.0.8!
