A couple of months ago I made a blog post about how Hive could be improved in my eyes. One of the main things that was addressed in that blog is the lack of good blog feeds.
And according to the replies in the comments, I was not the only one thinking this.
After some discussion with @ecoinstant, he and @thecrazygm started building a tool that would give us the option to get a custom, filtered list of blogposts, ready to be curated by us!
Who doesn't want this?
A tool was built and even rebuilt from scratch and the input from the previous posts was put on a list. Some of it was already implemented. I must say that it is really useful with the current options, but future options will only make it better.
So, what's new? You can check out this post by @thecrazygm or read on.
My last update blog was from a while ago and it seems that not a lot has happened. From the recent blogs of @ecoinstant I could see he has been very busy with other projects. And when you see the list of projects that are on the website of @thecrazygm you see they have to divide their attention.
But nonetheless, there recently were some updates on the PCT project.
And maybe if we would give it some more attention, there will be more focus on this very interesting project.
1. Indicators for the age of the post
This request was brought in by @ladyaryastark, whi suggested to add a clearer indicator of how old a post is. As you might know, voting on a post that is a couple of days old results in slightly lower rewards. In the earlier version, there was only a timestamp, but now it is followed by a "Days Ago" indicator. The posts from today have "Today" behind the timestamp. A simple, but very useful addition.
2. And/or for tags
The tags field now has an option to toggle between and & or. If you choose and, you will get posts that have both the #photography and #nature tags. If you choose or, you will get all blogs with #photography and those with a #nature tag.
Come on and use this tool!
https://thecrazygm.com/hivetools/pct
I've been using it quite a lot recently and it is really helpful for curation purposes. You can include the tags you like and exclude the ones you don't. It's also very usefol for people that run a community or contests for instance.
Some examples:
As you might know, I run my own photography contest. For this I have a special tag: #fpc
By this filter I can show all posts with that tag, except those made by me, but that are in a photography community.
This gives me quite a quick overview of all contestants which I curate manually.
You can save the search query by bookmarking it. This will easily let you run it another time, just by opening your bookmark.
One of my favorite filters is the #photography in combination with #nature one within the communities that have photo in them. This will include the "Photography" community, but also "Photography lovers" and "Photofeed".
In my official filter I have also added some authors which blogs I don't want to see, because they mostly make low effort blogs. But in the screenshot I only added my own username as an example.
For this reason I would like to see a 'minimum number of words' variable to be implemented.
Read more about new features later on in this blog!
Have you been using it already? No? Why not? Go and try it out right away!
https://thecrazygm.com/hivetools/pct
I'm very curious what you think about it and I think the development team is too!
And it's free, so why shouldn't you?
If you have tried it out, please let us know what you think about it.
Let's stir up some buzz about this project. Reblog this post! Share something about it on your favorite short content app (Dbuzz, Waves, Snaps, Threads) or even make your own post about it.
This tool needs some more promotion! And it shouldn't only come from me π
So, use it and spread the word!
There have been quite a few requests for further improvement of the tool. A list of them is shown below. This is not the order in which the requests are going to be processed by the way. I even cannot guarantee that they are going to be implemented at all, since I'm not even in the development team. I'm just promoting the tool and share suggestions for improvement.
Personally I would really want to see the filtering on post rewards and the minimal number of words to be implemented. That way I could filter posts that I find underrewarded and have a certain number of words.
If there is any feature you would like to see, just let me know in the comments and I'll add it to the list. As I said before; this is not my tool! It's for all Hivers!
The development team (@teammithril) works non profit. They have build a lot of tools for the community, just check their website: https://thecrazygm.com/hivetools/
If you appreciate what they do, please consider donating something. You can easily do this with one of their own tools; The TipJar (which you could also use yourself by the way!).

A shoutout to the tippers after my most recent blog:
I'm mentioning the people that have donated something to this project in the past to keep them informed about the latest updates of the tool.
If you want to be removed from this list, please let me know in the comments!

Hello @friendlymoose, thank you very much for this useful tool.
Congratulations to @thecrazygm and @ecoinstant, excellent work.
The tool is flawless, providing a very useful funnel for those who like to curate manually. In my case, I like to support new accounts, so I tested it with lovesniper (Author) and introduceyourself (Tag) and everything appears right away. It's much faster than opening and closing communities.
Tested. I recommend it!
But there's a problem.π€ Now I've reblog it, you have it on your blog, but in a few days I'll be wasting time looking for the βPost Curation Tool.βπ
I remembered that I could ask the various front-ends to put a direct shortcut in each one's βExplore.β
See the attachment to the comment, I did a simulation in @peakd βExploreβ. Maybe @asgarth will consider it a feasible idea.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this tool.
P.S. I made another donation of 1 HBD. Sorry it's not much, but today I still have to go shopping for second-layer tokens π

Cool! It would be nice if it could be adopted and maybe even implemented by the diffent front-ends in the future indeed.
Thanks for the donation. I'll forward it to the team!
I've can't begin to keep up with all the posts offered by the 9 different feeds offered on Ecency.com! I need more hours in my day
That's my problem with the feeds of all the front ends too. That is why I like this tool that can show me the blogs I'm really interested in on a certain moment.
And filter out the thing I don't like.
nsfw toggle ? as an option to avoide nude moose pictures ππ
You won't get to see those, but good point!
Although I hardly see any nsfw posts. Or do I have it switched off maybe?!
They are rare, but also most frontends have automatic filtering of the nsfw tag, and handling spoilering is annoying in most of them as well.
In general it is even more non friendly (UX-wise) to handle nsfw content posting, and in general it doesnt seem to exist an interest on it as well
nsfw tagging is quite literally the tag nsfw so... adding -nsfw do the trick already
you can put
-nsfw
in the tags, but no there is not a default filter set.Just had a quick go and voted a few posts - perfect timing!
πͺ Before or after my blog?
And what do you think of it?
Do you want to share your experiences?
From your blog π
It's cool, tried a few tags, caught a few posts I didn't know about. My feed is getting very sparse π I need to replenish it. Another time I would do more investigating, but what I noticed is that I'm looking for posts with a minimum word count (not asking for that).

Custom feeds will be a game changer for discovery! π Stoked to see this tool come to life.
