Once again we do another night shift from Icy Bay which was about 140nm (200km) and took us just over 24 hours, we arrive around mid-day with a beautiful view...
We wanted to fuel up at the diesel dock but unfortunately we had to wait till 3pm.
After fueling up, we asked some locals if there was a interesting walk and they told us their were two, one that isn't really marked and one that's very well maintained for the tourists; so of course we took the one that isn't maintained as we wanted an adventure - we all had good orientation so no worries there.
We didn't realize how steep the climb would be but after maybe 2 hours, we found a lovely little spot to rest.
and with an amazing view!
und das mit einer atemberaubenden Aussicht!
What was really interesting is that we were here 9 months ago and it was dead quiet and now it was very busy, people processing fish till mid-night and maybe tourists that stayed in the lodges but what surprised me is that these weren't elderly people they were actually young people that came over for the summer break, in my opinion, perfect!
Well, now it was time to go back down - the ground was very slippery and mushy which made it hard to find proper grip and of course we slipped many many times, eventually we made it down safely. We saw a restaurant that we didn't see open last summer so we decided to go in and enjoy some local meals. Even with the very busy town there wasn't anyone and we were completely alone with the chef - we love our peace as sailors😉. It's a different kind of experience when you're in a restaurant talking with the chef sharing each others life stories.
