I didn’t plan to fall in love with a medieval fairy tale wrapped in a river and dipped in golden-hour perfection... but that’s exactly what happened when I flew my DJI Mini 3 Pro over Esch-sur-Sûre last weekend. Well, actually, the real falling in love happened the month before, but the situation was similar.

It’s an actual real-life village in Luxembourg, wrapped in a scenic loop of the Sûre River, topped with castle ruins, and surrounded by forest so green you’d think someone cranked the saturation slider on nature itself (I wish I could do that!).

Imagine if Rivendell had 5G and accepted euros (or imagine further, and go for HBD!).

💡 Pro Tip for the Drone Nerds: Always Check the Map

Before I even unzipped the drone case (you know, the one that makes me look like I’m either a low-budget MI6 agent or a hipster barista with too much tech), I double-checked the Luxembourg drone map.

✅ Flight allowed. ✅ Weather perfect. ✅ Medieval tower nearby to make me look cooler than I am.

It was go time.

Yeah yeah, I know… The DJI Mini 5 Pro leaks are basically turning into a telenovela at this point. We’re all drooling over rumored omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, faster processors, maybe a better coffee brewing function? Who knows. I know I am waiting for DJI to take my money!

But let me tell you something: the Mini 3 Pro still SLAPS.

• Quiet enough to not scare the castle ghosts (or accidental walkers) ✅

• Shoots raw like it’s its full-time job ✅

So no, I didn’t feel “Mini 5 envy.” I felt Mini 3 dominance! (ok, maybe just a little envy)

If you love symmetry, winding rivers, and the kind of stone architecture that makes modern buildings look like IKEA leftovers, this place is a drone photographer’s fever dream.

💥 Wide top-downs of the town coiled around the river like it’s being spooned by water. 💥 Panorama-style shots with lush forest on every side like Mother Nature’s giving you a hug. 💥 And of course, the epic circular tower, repping the Luxembourg flag like it’s auditioning for the next Game of Thrones spin-off.

Side note: Flying that close to a medieval ruin made me feel like a time traveler with 4K resolution.
