Back in the day, the Furious Chicken was a revolutionary card.

It was the first zero mana card and cost more than other cards of the same rarity. A lot of players have a level one Chicken. It has no attack but has enormous utility of being a tank or backline defender in low mana battles. It was especially useful in Equalizer ruleset where more cards give you an advantage.

In the Escalation set, there are zero mana, legendary cards that fill similar roles. These are even better than the Furious Chicken since they can attack from afar. In today's post, we'll look into each card and then I'll feature a battle where I used one of them.

The Zero Mana Cards

There are five zero mana cards in the Escalation set and they represent the race of the five archons in the Conclave Arcana core set. This is important since you can use them outside of their splinter. They also have a new ability, Bloodline Pact that will buff their race.

Tilly Gearspring (Gnome)

Tilly Gearspring deals two melee damage and has a Sneak ability. It enables her to attack the enemy rear position from afar. She can be summoned by the Death archon since she is a gnome.

Maud Stonefoot (Dwarf)

Maud Stonefoot is the only magic damage dealer among the zero mana cards. It's great that she's a Water splinter since she can be summoned by the Frontier Water archon that buffs magic attacks. She can also be summoned by the Fire archon since she's a dwarf.

Kyraseth Nythlarian (Elf)

Kyraseth Nythlarian is the Death splinter card. She deals two melee damage and has the Opportunity ability that allows her to attack with melee from any position. I mostly use her with the Earth archon since she's an elf.

Gorvash the Pallid (Orc)

Gorvash the Pallid of the Life splinter is the only range unit among the zero mana cards. He has the Snipe ability that he gets from level one similar to other zero mana cards. He can also be summoned by the Water archon since he's an Orc.

Thambo Diamalo (Ulund)

Thambo Diamalo is the Fire zero mana card. He deals two melee damage and has the Charge ability that enables him to strike from afar. He is an Ulund bloodline and can be summoned by the Life archon.

Featured Battle

The battle was one from my own. I was lucky to pull one zero mana card from Escalation packs. It's an elf that I usually use in battle with the Kaylia Silverleaf in low mana battles. My main tank is Quilliun Legionary followed by elf units. I also had a one mana unit to complete the team.

The enemy had the Water magic team led by the Foundation archon. Luckily, Kaylia decreases magic attack by one thereby countering the buff of the enemy. My tank also has the Void ability the decreases magic damage received. My elf team had the Execute ability that enabled them to attack twice in a round if their target's health goes two or below after a successful attack. This led to my victory in this battle.
