Global Warming is among the punishing rulesets in Splinterlands together with Noxious Fumes and Earthquake. In this ruleset, units' health decrease by two each round. There are several ways to play the ruleset where the focus is more on survival rather than disposing the enemy.

Several strategies involve the following.

• Using units with Cleanse ability
• Using high health units
• Using units with healing ability

One of my favorites is using units with healing ability particularly Corrupted Healing. Corrupted Healing is different from the usual Tank Heal, Triage or self heal abilities. What makes Corrupted Healing powerful is it heals all allied units except for the caster. There is a catch though that the max health of units decreases in each time it is healed.

Units with Corrupted Healing Ability

There are only four units in the Modern League that has this ability and three of them are in the Death splinter making it an ideal splinter to use in these types of rulesets. Imagine having two or three units with Corrupted Healing in the team. You will outlast your opponent with multiple healing per round while the enemy suffers from constant burn.

Inept Healer (Fire)

The Inept Healer is a legendary, three mana Fire unit. She deals two magic damage, has decent five health and is fast with five speed. She gets the Corrupted Healing ability at level two which means Silver level players can have access to her ability. Her overall abilities all make her an anti magic unit with a combination of Magic Reflect, Phase and Void in her arsenal.

Deep Delver (Death)

The Deep Delver is a rare card that works well with the Death archon, Razi Clanktrap. He is a Gnome range unit which means he benefits from the archon's Close Range ability and Bloodline Dominion ability to all gnomes, Painforge. He gets the Corrupted Healing ability at level four or Silver League. The Painforge ability he gets from the archon will also be useful since it will increase his attack stats each time he gets burned.

Doldrus (Death and Earth)

Doldrus is the rare promo card. He is a four mana dual splinter Death and Earth unit. He has no attack but has decent defense and speed. He has five abilities including three which are useful in Global Warming ruleset. Cleanse removes Burning from allies in the first position, Corrupted Healing heals all allied units and Flame Fed makes him gain one health stat instead of losing health from burning. On the other hand, he gets Corrupted Healing at level six and Flame Fed at maxed levels.

Arachne Weaver (Death)

Arachne Weaver is an epic reward card and the first possessor of the Corrupted Healing ability. He gets the ability from level one and when he reaches level three he gets a self sustaining ability, Scavenger. It makes him an effective unit in punishing rulesets like Global Warming since he heals his allies and gains health when a unit dies whether it's allied or enemy units.

Featured Battle

This was from my own battles with the Global Warming ruleset. I used the Frontier archon that decreases enemy health by one. It's a strong debuff in this type of ruleset since the enemy die faster from the effects of Global Warming. I had Ujurak Brave in front but his Immunity does not save him from Global Warming. I had two units Life Leech ability that increases their health each time they do damage to help them survive. I also had another unit with Weaken ability that decreases the enemy's health by one. Finally I had the Arachne Weaver with Corrupted Healing and Scavenger abilities.

The enemy had the legendary Lorkus archon together with melee and magic units. However, his team doesn't have the abilities to help him survive the ruleset. While his team has great offense, the ruleset is more on defense and survival. This led him to losing the battle inspite of his better archon.
