Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to my blog! Our guild finished another recent brawl! In my post for today, I will show how we did in the brawl, my performance as well as featured battles.
We only placed seventh in our recent brawl. We won seventy battles and gave away one hundred and nineteen, earning seventy five crowns along the way. It's not our best result as a guild if I'm being honest.

My personal contribution to our efforts was not bad. I won seven battles out of nine. Each participant earned 3.9k merits and 39 SPS. It's still a good haul but it could have been better.

The featured battle for today shows how having more cards in your deck gives tremendous advantage in battles.

The ruleset in this battle was Going the Distance. It's a very limiting ruleset because only range units are allowed to be played. In addition, there are not many range units that can attack from the first position. The battle was further limited by only two splinters were available: Water and Dragon. Luckily, I had enough cards to field a complete team with some synergy.
I chose the Dragon splinter led by Kavor Skarn although my Water archon is ideal in this battle because it debuffs enemy ranged attacks. My choice was to allow the use of more units because I have good range units in the Dragon splinter like Syrenth and Aranduriel. My team was composed of the following units.
Steppe Stalker is my only unit in this battle that had the Close Range ability. It deals two ranged damage and has decent defense. It's awfully slow with one speed but it decreases the enemy's speed by one so that counts for a lot.
In second position was the Aerial Shieldmaiden. It deals two range damage and has three speed. It has decent defense of three armor and four health along with the Flying ability. It's a viable tank in these conditions so I placed her in second position.
Aranduriel is a good damage dealer having three range attack, two speed and five health. It has the Sneak ability, enabling it to hunt down the enemy backline units.
Syrenth is one of my favorite units because of her Taunt ability. Having a unit in the team with Taunt is one of my strategies to divide the enemy attacks. She's a great damage dealer with four range attack, two speed, one armor and nine health. She also has the Dodge ability, adding to her defense.
Edith Emberstar is my gladiator card. She deals massive damage with five range attack and three speed. She's a great unit in Noxious Fumes ruleset because of her Cleanse ability.
Mar Toren Trader is a low mana unit that brings a lot of utility in this battle. She deals two range damage, has two speed and four health. More importantly, she debuffs the enemy attack with her Headwinds ability. A huge contribution for a three mana unit.
The enemy team suffered from card limitation. He only fielded three units and had no unit with Close Range ability so only two units were attacking. This gave me a tremendous advantage and easily won this battle.
You need cards to play Splinterlands. You don't go to war with only few soldiers or you will certainly lose. Having more cards means having more choices in limiting rulesets. So build your deck to increase your chances of winning. It need not be the most expensive cards, but having more cards will certainly win you battles. After all, one of the key elements of trading card games like Splinterlands is collecting cards.
