Blue Wyrm Travesty: Water Splinter's Melee Nuker

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog! The Escalation cards have already found spots in my line up and I regularly use them in my battles. My most used cards are the commons with their high damage output. One of my favorites is the Water splinter's Blue Wyrm Travesty.

Lore

The extinct blue dragons were revived by the Dark Eternals but as a zombie, devoid of thought. It lost its magic, only their physical strength is present in battle.

Where other revenants retain their minds, this creature is hollow. Its draconic intelligence burned away with its flesh. Its storm magic, once capable of rending armies, is gone. What remains is size, strength, and hunger.

No cunning and no will. It serves because necromantic bindings force it to, responding only to simple commands. Follow. Attack. Kill.

Stats and Abilities

At maxed level, the Blue Wyrm Travesty has the stats of a huge melee nuker tank. It deals an insane nine melee damage, huge enough to meet Der Gottem Gearnut's health pool. It also has five speed, five armor and twelve health. It slows down the enemy and allied units cannot be exhausted.

My Blue Wyrm is at level two, dealing seven melee damage. I plan to upgrade it to level three to get the Slow ability since a copy cost very cheap.

Combos and Rulesets

Currently I'm using it with Wailworn Spectre, an undead who has the Bloodline Tribute ability. Once the Wailworn Spectre gets defeated, the Blue Wyrm gains additional stats except for attack.

As for rulesets, it will be great in Stampede where its high damage will carry over to the adjacent unit once its target gets defeated. It will also be great in rulesets where melee can attack from any position like Super Sneak or Melee Mayhem to team it with other melee units.

Featured Battle

The battle was capped at fifty six mana, high enough for me to field the Blue Wyrm Travesty and all of my desired units. I chose the Frontier archon and intended to field a team with mostly magic units. My team was composed of the following.

Wailworn Spectre (sacrifice unit)

The Wailworn Spectre is an Undead and serves as a sacrifice unit because of its Bloodline Tribute ability. This is a common strategy with this ability. You will often see units like Moribund Arrowbait on the frontline. On the other hand, I should have placed it in the last position because of the Super Sneak ruleset.

Blue Wyrm Travesty (tank)

The Blue Wyrm Travesty is an undead that will benefit from the Wailworn Spectre's sacrifice. Its speed, armor and health will increase by one.

Abyssal Elemental

The Abyssal Elemental deals two magic damage and has two speed. It has two armor and five health on defense. It's particularly tough because of its Resurgence ability and can play tank in some cases.

Mindless Thrall

The Mindless Thrall deals two magic damage, has five speed and health. It's an undead so it will benefit from Wailworn Spectre's defeat where all its stats including magic attack will get boosted by one.

Arcane Skinwalker

The Arcane Skinwalker has the Shapeshift ability and will also get its stats increased by Wailworn Spectre's defeat. It has two magic attack, two speed, four armor and five health.

Mystic Scaleweaver

The Mystic Scaleweaver is the best Frontier card. It deals three magic damage, has seven health and two speed. It also slows down the enemy with its ability.

The enemy's strategy was to take advantage of the Super Sneak ruleset. He used mainly melee units. It would have been better if I placed the Wailworn Spectre in last position to counter the enemy's strategy. While Blue Wyrm was still able to attack from second position, its effectiveness was dampened by armor. It would have been great if it had Piercing ability. Inspite of my mistake, my team still won against higher level enemy.
