Social Media Challenge: Merdaali Guardian [EN - ESP]
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of my weekly Social Media Challenge. Yes, you're right, when you see the card I'm bringing you to analyse this week, you're going to say I'm feeling nostalgic. And you're right. Last week we analysed Pelacor Mercenary, one of the veterans of the Earth deck, with a nice victory, and this week I'm bringing you another veteran card, although this time from my beloved water deck. And, like last week, you'll see the analysis with a gold edition card so we can analyse the card with a certain level of evolution. Let's not waste any more time and get on with this week's analysis, which is loaded with healing power. Let's get on with the analysis and study the card in question.

Si, tienes razón, cuando veas la carta que te traigo para analizar esta semana vas a decir que estoy nostálgico. Y es cierto. Si la semana pasada analizábamos con una bonita victoria a Pelacor Mercenary, uno de los veteranos del mazo de tierra, esta semana te traigo otra carta veterana aunque, esta vez, de mi querido mazo de agua. Y, como la semana pasada, verás el análisis con una carta edición dorada por lo que podremos analizar la carta con cierto nivel de evolución. No vamos a entretenernos más y vamos con el análisis de esta semana que viene cargado de poder de sanación. Vamos a por el análisis y a estudiar la carta en cuestión.
As always, to begin and put the card into context, let's start with a little bit of lore. This lore has been somewhat forgotten, as it is a card from an edition that appeared in the game many months ago. The Merdaali Guardians are known throughout Praetoria as beings who couldn't care less about what happens on the surface. Their main goal is to care for marine life and all the creatures that share their habitat. They are eminently pacifist and shy away from conflict, in fact they detest it, but they are forced to participate in battles to fulfil their goal: to heal and cure the creatures that accompany them in these struggles they so detest. With the arrival of the Chaos Legion, they made a solemn promise to protect all creatures, and that is what they are currently doing. In fact, you will see what they do best in the battle example that you will see a little later.
Como siempre, para empezar y poner un poco en contexto la carta vamos con una pequeña ración de lore. Un lore, además, que tenemos algo olvidado al ser una carta de una edición que apareció en el juego hace ya muchísimos meses. Los Merdaali Guardian son reconocidos en todo Praetoria como unos seres a los que nos les interesa lo más mínimo lo que ocurre en la superficie. Su principal objetivo es cuidar de la vida marina y todos los seres que comparten hábitat con ellos. Son eminentemente pacifistas y rehuyen el conflicto, de hecho lo detestan, pero se ven obligadas a participar en las batallas para cumplir con su objetivo: sanar y curar a las criaturas que las acompañan en esas luchas que ellas tanto detestan. Con la llegada de Chaos Legion hicieron una solemne promesa de proteger a todas las criaturas y en ello están actualmente. My edition of Merdaali Guardian is a gold edition, and since it is a rare card, that means it is evolved by default to level 2. There really isn't much difference from the initial level, as it only gives one more speed point than level 1 in the normal edition. Its basic stats give two speed points and three vitality points. It has no shield or attack, although you can gain these with the arrival of the Weapons Training ability that some cards have. As for its special abilities, at its first level it provides Tank Heal, which ends up being the main and almost only use we give Merdaali Guardian: to be an important healer in our strategy. At level 5, it gains Repair, so in addition to healing health points, it recovers shield points, and finally, at level 8, it gains Strengthen. As you can see, it is a typical Support card if we were in a standard RPG.
Mi edición de Merdaali Guardian es edición dorada y al ser carta rara eso supone que está evolucionada por defecto al nivel 2. Realmente no hay mucha diferencia con el nivel inicial pues solo supone un punto más de velocidad con respecto al nivel 1 en la edición normal. Sus estadísticas básicas aportan dos puntos de velocidad y tres puntos de vitalidad. No cuenta con escudo ni ataque aunque podrái ganarlo con la llegada de la habilidad Weapons Training que tienen algunas cartas. En cuanto a sus habilidades especiales ya en su primer nivel aporta Tank Heal que acaba siendo el principal y casi único uso que le damos a Merdaali Guardian: el de ser una importante sanadora en nuestra estrategia. En el quinto nivel gana Repair por lo que además de sanar puntos de vida recupera puntos de escudo y, finalmente, a nivel 8 obtiene Strengthen. Como puedes comprobar, es una típica carta de Support si estiviéramos en un RPG al uso.
Now let's get to what you've all been waiting for: the example battle to see how I use Merdaali Guardian on the battlefield. The conditions for this battle will be the same as for all decks available for use, with 44 summoning mana points available. There will be three battle conditions: Melee Mayhem, Stampede, and Equaliser. My opponent will be farm3, who will be playing with a death deck that will face off against my somewhat alternative water deck, with Merdaali Guardian well protected in the centre of the line-up. Let's see how the battle unfolded.

As you have seen as you read this analysis and watched the battle, the gameplay of Merdaali Guardian is not very complicated, and the objective is as simple as placing her in the right spot and flanking her well so that she can survive as many rounds as possible to heal as many times as possible the player occupying the tank position in each round. I like to use it well flanked and in the final central part of the line-up, but never as the last card in the line-up where it can be easy prey for enemy attacks. I'm also not one to use healers in battles with low summoning mana. Otherwise, it never hurts to use these types of cards with healing power to create problems for your opponent's strategies. Como has podido comprobar según ibas avanzando en la lectura de este análisis y al ver la batalla, la jugabilidad de Merdaali Guardian no tiene mucho misterio y el objetivo es tan simple como colocarla en el lugar adecuado y bien flanqueada para que pueda sobrevivir el máximo número de rondas para curar el máximo número de veces al que esté ocupando el puesto de tanque en cada ronda. A mi me gusta utilizarla bien flanqueda y en la parte central final de la alineación pero nunca como última carta de la alineación donde puede ser presa facil de los ataques enemigos. Tampoco soy de usar sanadores en batallas de poco maná de invocación. Por lo demás, nunca está de más utilizar este tipo de cartas con poder de sanación para crear problemas a las estrategias del rival. Y, ¿tú usas sanadores? ¿En qué situaciones los consideras imprescindibles? Te leo en comentarios...
