Engagement Challenge: Conclave, my thoughts and strategy
Hello all dear friends of the Splinterlands universe. The next card edition of our beloved game is just around the corner. As I write and publish this article, there are just over two weeks to go until the official release of the Conclave Arcana Edition I'm not going to kid you, I'm really looking forward to what this new edition will bring to the game. The previous releases were a substantial change to the gameplay and strategies to be used. What used to work no longer did and we all had to reinvent ourselves. And, this time, I suspect that the same thing will happen again. You know, history is cyclical.

Cuando escribo y publico este artículo quedan poco más de dos semanas para que se lance de manera oficial la edición Conclave Arcana. No te voy a engañar, estoy muy expectante con lo que puede suponer esta nueva edición al juego. Los anteriores lanzamientos supusieron un cambio sustancial del modo de juego y de las estrategias a utilizar. Lo que antes valía dejó de hacerlo y todos tuvimos que reinventarnos. Y, esta vez, intuyo que volverá a pasar lo mismo. Ya sabes, la historia es cíclica.
In today's article I will explain a couple of things about this new edition. The first one is going to be my strategy in the coming weeks. What I'm going to do and how I'm going to do it to try to adapt as quickly as possible to the changes in the game dynamics that this new set of cards is going to bring. Second, I want to talk to you about what I think is going to be the biggest change coming with this new set: a new type of cards We're not just going to have regular and gold editions anymore, we're going to have black editions. And it's not going to be a trivial thing, on the contrary, it will be a decisive change especially for those who want to invest part of their savings in this new edition.
En el artículo de hoy te voy a explicar un par de cosas sobre esta nueva edición. La primera va a ser mi estrategia en las próximas semanas. Qué voy a hacer y cómo voy a hacerlo para intentar adaptarme lo antes posible a los cambios en las dinámicas de juego que va a suponer este nuevo set de cartas. La segunda, quiero comentarte el que creo que va a ser el cambio más determinante que viene con esta nueva edición: un nuevo tipo de cartas. Ya no solo tendremos ediciones comunes y doradas, ahora también tendremos edición de color negro. Y no va a ser algo baladí, sino todo lo contrario, será un cambio determinante especialmente para aquellos que quieran invertir parte de sus ahorros en esta nueva edición.
I'm going to be clear and direct and I'm not going to spend time explaining my strategy. It's going to be the same as in previous editions: see, study, analyse, and then go to the market to buy a good set of cards because my budget for Splinterlands is, I guess, like everyone else's: limited. My investment, this time, will be important and I don't want to make a mistake in my purchasing decisions in the short term. The profits from my Hive items are going to go, in large part, to improve my roster with cards from the Conclave Arcana edition but before I jump into the purchase I want to see how these new cards work on the battlefield and, once analysed, see what kind of cards will fit well with my current roster. If I can give you a sneak peek, though, I'll be taking a good look at the water and Earth decks as you can already tell if you're a regular reader of my Hive articles.
Voy a ser claro y directo y no me voy a entretener en explicarte mi estrategia. Y es que va a ser la misma que en ediciones anteriores: ver, estudiar, analizar y, después, lanzarme al mercado a comprar un buen set de cartas. Y es que mi bolsa económica para destinar a Splinterlands es, supongo, como la de todos: limitada. Mi inversión, esta vez, será importante y no quiero equivocarme en mis decisiones de compra a corto plazo. Los beneficios de mis artículos en Hive van a ir destinados, en gran parte, a mejorar mi roster con cartas de la edición Conclave Arcana pero antes de lanzarme a la compra quiero ver cómo funcionan estas nuevas cartas sobre el campo de batalla y, una vez analizado, ver qué tipo de cartas cuadrarán bien con mi roster actual. Aunque si puedo avanzarte algo, daré un buen vistazo a las cartas de los mazos de agua y tierra como ya podrás intuir si eres habitual de mis artículos en Hive.
And here is the great novelty of this new edition. It is not something like the Black Ajah of The Wheel of Time but it is going to be something determinant in the development of the game. But what exactly is the Black Foil? Let's see if we can explain it briefly. To put it succinctly, it's a new type of card that complements the common and gold editions but it's going to be extremely rare, so don't expect to get several in the same pack. In fact, to quote ‘These new extremely rare foils’. Their particularity is that, directly, a black foil card will be evolved to the maximum as soon as you receive it and will have many more advantages than the golden ones. We guess they will have a higher percentage of battle rewards and, from what we can tell, they will be extremely rare and will be very, very limited editions. So don't expect to find a lot of black cards in your battles, especially if you are in medium or low level leagues. In short, I'm really looking forward to this edition, aren't you? I'm sure you are too.
Y aquí está la gran novedad de esta nueva edición. No es algo como el Black Ajah de La Rueda del Tiempo pero si que va a ser algo determinante en el desarrollo del juego. Pero, ¿qué es exactamente el Black Foil? Vamos a ver si lo explicamos de forma breve. Para decirlo de forma concisa es un nuevo tipo de carta que viene a complementar a las edición común y dorada. Pero va a ser de una rareza extrema, no esperes que te salgan varias en un mismo pack. De hecho, citando textualmente "These new extremely rare foils". Su particularidad es que, directamente, una carta black foil estará evolucionada al máximo nada más recibirla y tendrán muchas más ventajas que las que aportan las doradas. Intuimos que tendrá un porcentaje mayor en las recompensas de batalla y, por lo que se deja entrever, serán extremadamente raras y será ediciones muy muy limitadas. Así las cosas, no esperes encontrarte muchas cartas negras en tus batallas especialmente si estás en ligas de nivel medio o bajo. Resumiendo, estoy realmente ansioso por la llegada de esta edición, ¿y tú?. Seguro que también.
