The topic of ideology in Bro Eli's message was an eye-opener for me having not thought about it until today. If there's one sentence I can use to summarize this is that the world has its ideology, as Christians have one faith therefore as a Christian you can not have an ideology that is not in the faith. Well, this is how I have come to understand it, I don't know if everyone agrees with it, but I will in time do further research and hope I find answers. See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception [pseudo-intellectual babble], according to the tradition [and musings] of mere men, following the elementary principles of this world, rather than following [the truth—the teachings of] Christ. (Colossians 2:8 AMP)

I just discovered that the Bible frowns against the philosophy of men and I see it as one of the problems a lot of people are having in the Christian faith, making the word of God of no effect with philosophies. Knowing that we have a common faith as Bro Eli shared from Titus 1:4, I have now learned that you can not bring your ideology into the faith because it will only make you go against the faith. The faith through the scriptures has already given us a belief system which we must abide by, therefore creating worldly systems and philosophical beliefs will only bring the word of God to no effect.

Ephesians 4:4-5

There is one body [of believers] and one Spirit just as you were called to one hope when called.
One Lord, one faith, one baptism[to salvation] (AMP)

From here we can see the Bible talking about one body and one spirit, Colossians 1:18 tells us the meaning of the body in Ephesians 4:4 which happens to be the church. So we can say that according to the scriptures, there's one body, (one church) and in that church, there's one spirit. In vs 5, it goes on to say there's one Lord in the church, one faith and one baptism. What I understand from what Brother Eli said is that the common faith mentioned in Titus 1:4 is the faith of the body (the church). This means everyone in the body or church has one faith and not different beliefs. It also means that you can not be in the body and have your ideology. It's either you are in the body or outside the body because the body has one faith and if at all we have an ideology it's the Bible.
