Do you like to read?
A question I got early last month from a stranger who is offering to help me change my life for real.
Me: I do try.
My response out of a place of "I can't remember the last time I read a book but I do need his help".
Okay, download this book (he gives me the title, writer's name and a book site to download from).
I got my first book recommendation after like a decade. The first because I obeyed and went ahead to download and start reading. All the others who recommended to me before this, I didn't even bother to find where to download any.
Now, the most fun and unbelievable part comes.
In just one week, I was done with the book and went back to who is now my kind and cool mentor, with so much pride and applauds to myself for doing something I've always thought was hard to do. He was even more proud of me than I accorded myself but not after this convo.
You're done with the 350+ pages book already?
He asked from a place of doubt which I totally understood because even I couldn't believe it.
Me: Yes sir, I finished the last page this morning.
I will say this, I felt like shouting it to him when I was writing this response, it was a great feeling.
Okay tell me, what did you learn from the book?
That was obviously a test to confirm that I had really read the book and I fell for it happily because for one, the book was so fun to read but more than that, it opened my eyes to so many things I didn't know simply because I had not bothered to read. Well, I answered him intelligently and got a beautiful remark from him.
Now, go read this book and come tell me what you learned (he gives me a new title and writer's name).

It continued like that since last month until now, I have finished reading three good books that are not just so good but are changing my life right from the exact area I want my life to change from... My mind. Now, I have so much to share about what I've learned when I've only started.
This is me bringing myself out here in the community as one who has fallen in love with books again and would like to share the love.
No, I've not read only three books since then, my mentor started the fire so I began to explore books from different aspects of life to read and I've been reading. Like I actually have a reading time scheduled at my work desk to make sure I read every morning and some days, before bed.
What is most exciting about this journey for me is that, I'm reading books to change my life, not just for fun. Every book I open, I read them like my life depends on it and no, it isn't a "no fun" situation at all. I'm having so much fun with the process and I always can't wait to finish my current read.
The first book that rekindled my love for reading - "Building A StoryBrand" By Donald Miller.
Current read that I'm so excited to get to the end - "The Boron Letters" by Gary Halbert.
I'll be sharing more and all about the books I've read so far one by one. For now, congratulate me on this journey that I have started and excited about and welcome me to the family of book lovers hehe. This post was inspired by the amazing remark I got from my mentor yesterday.
