THE STATE OF A NATION

The prosperity, progress and growth of any country is dependent on the type of government ruling them, because with great leadership comes great progress, peace and fortune for the whole country. A corrupt government and leadership will only bring about misfortune, failure and hardship for it's citizens making life more difficult and unbearable for the average and low class citizens. Take a good look at our beautiful country Nigeria that is blessed with so many untapped resources with just little percentage out of it that are being utilized and yet there is a high rate of starvation in the country with people complaining every time and everyday..

Nigeria is a blessed country with so many resources aside from crude oil and agriculture, but the main focus of the government has been diverted to crude oil alone forgetting the importance of agriculture which has been one of the main sources of generating income and revenues decades ago through exportation. Look at the fluctuations in the prices of petroleum that don't tend to remain consistent causing a hike in price for virtually everything because you cannot navigate or move your goods without a means of transportation and as we know it most vehicles around here requires petroleum or diesel to move around.

The unending hardship that the citizens are facing trying to survive each day has left me to question what exactly our government are doing there? Even though I know that it's not easy to run a country but it's also not impossible to make things a little bit easy for better life. The embezzlement that some government officials engage their selves in, is actually very frightening.

The cost of living is too expensive for the living average citizen at this moment as there is a high rise in food prices which is one of the basic needs for survival and also our educational system as it stands now is something else, where tuition fees has been increased by 100% without remorse for those students that are paying there fees themselves due to financial constraints, as well as parent that have to go extra mile doing overtime or even doing two jobs to make ends meets.

I have a friend that currently due to financial incapability he will soon be evicted from this house because he can afford to pay his rent anymore because the landlord has increased the rent by 100% giving him the excuse of the hardship in the country making things unbearable for him also which made me to think about other people that are facing the same similar case of eviction.

This country has enough resources to cater for our needs and I also know that there is enough cashflow circulating in the country (though am not an economist), it's obvious because our lawmakers, senate and the presidency are changing cars possibly every month with huge allowances whenever there is a meeting and that allowance is enough to feed some household for months.

If our leaders and government keeps complaining about lack of money in the country then why not depend on agriculture and continue exporting food produces in larger quantities to other countries alongside the crude oil that we are so dependent on. There are rich individuals in this country that exports alot of farm produces to other countries and are profiting alot because we can't deny the fact that we are blessed with fertile lands for cultivating in some parts of the country

This is just my honest opinion but I hope, pray and believe that this country can be better with good leadership but also we the citizens have to play our part.
