Traditional Vs Modern Medication.
Africa some people mostly believe in traditional medicine and it works for them . Even when the modern medication was not available, our people uses roots and herbs to cure some helment and it use to work , even till now it's working.
I know a man in my community who is very good with herbs. There was a time one of our relatives had a stomach ache, it was so severe that all the modern medicine given to her was not working, she took injection and yet, the pains was so severe. The parents were directed to visit a lady who mixed some herbs and gave it to her for drinking and that was how the pains subsided.
Aside that, back when we were much younger, there were times my parents will get some herbs , back of trees and maybe roots , cook it and we were asked to drink, some of these things were to heal malaria and typhoid. At times it will work and at times it will not. And when whenever we take things like that we were not allowed to take the modern medicine to avoid implications.
In other hand, we also believed very well in modern medicine, because we had a family doctor then. So when ever the sickness was serious we will be taken to our family doctor for treatment and it works faster. For my family, we combine both and I personally grew up with that. When the illness is servere we visit the hospital first to run some check ups and also do the normal treatment.
But I know of a lady who does not visit the hospital often. The last time I asked her, she told me 9 years that she has not visited the hospital. I asked how she survive, she said that, she uses herbs anytime she feels sick and that works for her.
So for me, know the main cause of the problem first, then choose how you wish to treat it. If the traditional method works for you, go for it, if the modern method works go for it as well. But personally I believe in the two.
As at last month, i was feeling somhow sick and there was no much money to visit the clinic for the modern treatment, so i decided to cut some leaves , added it with lemon grass and then boil it. I drank it for about a week and it subside a little. But next treatment i will do the modern treatment.
