Helping Is A Culture That Should Never Go Extinct.

Helping and caring for people was something I grew up with. I've seen it first in my parents how they often care for people and show them kindness. I remember about two to three different people that my parents didn't know but gave them shelter, one of them later spent years in our house as she was a student then.

So, it's something I know very well, and knowingly or unknowingly, they've planted it in us their children too. Something as little as sharing food, showing strangers directions, paying tfares, coming down from a public transport just so an adult can come in and many more are the things we, I personally now find myself doing without even forcing it.

And like I'd say, I don't even have anything, I'm still trying to figure out things too, even still I try to help whenever I can. Just less than a week ago, I met someone who was stranded and needed a few naira, so sincerely my I had enough for myself and some to spare, I gave it out. He said thank you, and I went my way. That's just it. Just yesterday I was on my way to the POP of some corp members when I met a lady, she was on the uniform(khaki) but her face looks new, she was going somewhere close but I heard the bike man telling her a huge amount of money. So, I called her over, even though she hesitated and was acting somehow at first, she relaxed when I eventually told her I've been here for a while and I'm going her way.

It was when we got to where we were going that she looked back and could still see the place she was about to take bike from and the man was telling her a thousand naira. That was also when she knew I was a Corp member too. She was grateful, she also needed to submit some documents which she's yet to photocopy, my LGI as well asked me to help him with some, so I collected hers as well and went to do it all together. It might not look big, but then ... I helped her.

It was later at night she messaged me on Whatsapp and was thanking me, she got to meet someone else who was a new and the person told her how much she spent on bike to do photocopy and documentation. I didn't give her my number so, I knew she must have gotten it from someone else. It may look like nothing to me, but it was everything to her. Those are acts showing kindness and helping strangers, even though the world we live in today doesn't really encourage it.

And as I was saying, the world we live in isn't encouraging such anymore. The world is now full of wickedness, betrayals, scams, and all of that. But then, I don't think we should stop helping all because of that, we should only be wise, careful and not do too much.

Helping is a culture and it should never go extinct, meaning it is a way of life already. The world would have and will be in a much worse state of caring and showing kindness disappears.
