It is very sad and painful to see people stealing from the house of God. A place that should be holy and respected has now become a target for thieves. This terrible event happened last week in my church.
We had come for our normal friday band rehearsal, as we always do. But when we entered the church, we were shocked and confused. We notice something was wrong. First the covering (clothes) we use to cover our instruments with was not how we use to cover it and secondly the position of our instruments was scattered, it wasn't the normal position we kept them.
My music director uncovered the covering and noticed the church amplifier and the mixer were missing. He called my attention and showed me how empty the stand was, if I had any idea who might have picked or borrowed the items, I said no. At first, we thought it was our general music director that took it but when we called him, he said he didn't take it.
We contacted our Reverend to confirm whether he permit someone to come pick it but he said no. That was when we concluded that those items were stolen since the head's don't know about the missing equipments.
These are important equipments that we use for sound's and music during worship, and they are not easy to replace.
No one knew exactly what happened. Nobody knows how the thief entered the church. Some people said the thief may have entered through the window. Others believed they passed through the door, maybe because the last set of group that had their rehearsal didn't lock doors properly.
Some people blamed the security guard. They said the guard was not doing his job well, or perhaps he was sleeping while on duty if not how will someone enter the church without him knowing if he was awake. He doesn't even know what happened, to tell you he was actually sleeping on duty..
This theft has really affected everyone in the church. Yesterday's service (Sunday service) was so cold, because the people sitting at the back could not hear the sermon properly because the Reverend was using his voice without the aid of the microphone. It also affected our music and worship sessions because we couldn't use our full equipment.
Stealing is a bad act anywhere, but stealing from the house of God is even worse. It is not only a sin against people but also a sin against God. The house of God is meant for worship, prayers, and peace. Anyone who steals from it brings a curse upon themselves.
We pray that the thief is found and that God touches their heart to change from this evil act.
Stealing in the church is a very wrong and terrible action to take. I wonder how do some people really think. Please the security measures should be more tighter than usual so it won't happen again. Thank you for sharing
