Sticking with the Numbers and Parameters

Back to school, huh! The elementary and secondary aspect of one's education will always remain memorable. Encapsulated with all sorts of acts and doings, one that would seemingly always stand for a good conversation is the "the best or favourite subject." It was a long ride arriving at a favourite subject for some, for others it was an instant gratification towards that one subject, and inadvertently, it remained stuck ever since then the favourite. Whatsoever the case, there came a favourite. Even if it be that there wasn't a heartfelt preference, with time one subject could steal the heart silently.

In my early school days, I didn't start out with a favourite subject. I guess, I was just went to school, wait for the teachers to do their thing, go for break and play some games, come back to the teachers doing their thing again, then wait for the closing bell. Off, we rock the way home. When exams came, wrote to the best of my abilities, wait for the scores, show them to the people at home, then the results and "holiday is coming." All that with no gratification towards a particular favourite subject.

Further ahead, into the secondary school days, one silently stole my heart. Funny enough how this was the same subject that was a nightmare to me back then. I could do well in all other subjects but will gracefully do poor in it. I'm sure it was the nightmare of many too. I was totally good to go, so long as you don't show me some numbers and parameters, and you don't ask me to find "X" or solve the word problem. Why should words have a problem to be solved though? Chuckles.

Well, I bet you know where I'm heading. Call Mathematics my favourite subject, and yes, you'd be right. It somehow stole my heart, and I was glad finding "X" later on.

I started getting in good terms with the subject in my early secondary school days. I wouldn't count it a favourite then at the time, but it seemed overwhelming how it captivated me, by my performance as well. I used to think it was and would remain the hardest and most terrifying subject. Later on, it attained the seat of favourite subject in my educational journey.

It became comfortable to relate with a bunch of numbers throughout night preps than dealing with three to five pages filled with letters and words. I got stuck to numbers and parameters and was sticking with them. How the nightmare became the favourite. Till date, it seems to hold it's place. It seemed easier to calculate and deal with numbers than reading an endless amount of words and letters.

Honestly, I can't categorically or explicitly tell how I've come to develop the affinity for calculations and solving mathematical equations, opposed to reading some advantages and disadvantages, merits and demerits, effects, causes, remedies, definitions, explanations and all of that. Just leave me with numbers and a few words and let me find you the "X" you're so looking for. Surely, it would be found and returned safely to you, haha.

It was a journey to realising this, and I believe it's important that every young boy or girl finds early what subject has their passion more. That should then set the compass for their navigation towards their ideal career path. Other subjects have caught my attention too, ones I did duly enjoy. However, this stands out for some reason, mostly what will do with numbers and less of or no bulky reading.

Since I was in elementary school till now we have been finding X, I don't know if they have seen him 🤣🤣.
That was a great choice sir @daverick
Mathematics was also my favourite subject, it's just cool for me when I'm dealing with numbers and figures

I also love dealing with numbers than having to read a whole bunch of words back then in my secondary school days making me love mathematics more

But @daverick it seems we are still looking for the 'X' till now oo 😅😅 and still haven't found it

you write so well brother.
finding mathematics early made my walks to school worth it, I didn't really like subjects that will have to tell me to define or explicitly explain that, I was more of a problem solver than a theorist. it is nice to know what you are good at and love early so as to help you navigate a career path as you have mentioned. lovely job you did with your writing, i enjoyed every bit of it.
