IT IS IMPORTANT THAT CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME NOT FROM THE STRANGERS.

"Charity begins at home" has been a long time saying that being in existence many years ago which is mostly used as a reminder to people who love to show care and kindness that they should start from family and people close to them, before extending the kindness to people afar or outside their community.

No doubt charity is a good thing to do, the Bible we read admonishes us to show kindness to the needy and our neighbours which solely reflects on love for humanity. In our present society people prefer to travel and render help, food, money and some valuable gifts to people or strangers very far from them and also orphanage home and neglect those around them who are suffering in need. Now here comes the affordable question.; if truly that charity should begins from home, why do people prefer to consider to help the public more than people very close to them?

The reason behind this behaviour, I will say maybe because over familiarity. Yes they think for the fact that they see each other every day and they are used to themselves and familar with their needs or problem, that even if they didn't help them that someone else will definitely help and the helpless neighbour will be neglected to suffer in silence without any assistance. But when post or touching stories from distance strangers or charity homes needs help, they felt the need to pity them and motivated to render help without hesitating and then ignore their nearby neighbours that need help which contradict the true meaning of charity.

Another reason is that they want the public to see them as being influencer, they want to be recognised and praised publicly. So they prefer to help strangers in order to be admired and noticed by the society than to help a nearby person. For instance, they go to all these rural communities and orphanage homes to give them money, gift and foodstuffs and take pictures and videos of themselves while doing so and then post it on social media inorder to receive praises and compliments. Then neglect a suffering neighbour because it won't be noticed by the public. So these people prefer to do charity publicly over private charity because they love public recognition and being praised over true or sacrificial given to others that doesn't expect nothing in return.

But honestly speaking, rendering charity to far distance people is not bad. The same time helping shouldn't just be only to far distance people, nationality, tribe or religion. There shouldn't be segregation, because anyone in need deserves kindness. No doubt when we show compassion and kindness to strangers it uphold humanity and unity afar the society. However, showing charity to neighbours and people far away should be on check balance and handled equally.

For me charity should begin from home before extending it to outsiders. When we want to show kindness we should first start it from our family members, close friends and neighbours and the same time am not saying we should not help far away communities or strangers. But we shouldn't forget the need to start it from home first. Helping people very close us helps to build unity and strengthen our relationship with each and the same time teaches us the genuine act of charity, the one that is being done silently without expecting nothing in return or noticed publicly.

Charity is a lovely act to do, be it express to people around us or afar. All the same charity should begin at home, it very crucial that we start first from home. It is very bad to ignore people around us and rather prefer to show kindness to far away strangers. We should start from people close to us and then extend publicly. By doing so charity becomes what it ought to be, balanced and valued. What do you think should charity begin at home? Share your opinion.
