Weekend road trip

What an amazing weekend, everyone! My boyfriend (@michupa) and I decided to do a quick round trip through the Baixada Fluminense to go to the Rock Festival in Nova Iguaçu. The idea came from me because his favorite band, Raimundos, was playing, and he had never seen them live. So, what better way to surprise him than with the trip + tickets, right? We live close to Rio, but in another state, so I decided to rent a car—and of course, I was the one driving. I love driving, so spending a few hours behind the wheel was absolutely no problem.

We left home around 9 a.m., and our first stop was Duque de Caxias. There we met my friend Thiago and his friend Carol. We had lunch together at the mall and caught up a bit before the festival madness. After lunch, we hit the road again toward Nova Iguaçu. When we got there, it was insanely hot, and the line to get into the festival was massive. We waited about an hour and, unfortunately, missed the first band’s set… but no worries, because the anticipation for Raimundos was huge! (I’ll talk more about the festival itself in another post, I promise.)

After the show, we went on a little “expedition” around the Baixada: we dropped Thiago and Carol off in São João de Meriti. Seriously, it felt like we were doing a mini tour of the whole region, lol. Only after that did we head home, leaving Rio around 1 a.m. and getting back at 3:30 a.m. I’ll admit, I was tired, but driving doesn’t bother me at all. Honestly, I love long drives, even if it’s for a few hours straight.

On Monday, since I had the day off and he was on vacation, we still had a few hours left on the rental car, so we decided to make the most of it. We got up fairly early and went to his mom’s house, which is in a nearby town, just to say hi. On the way back, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant and even made a quick visit to my godmother at her workplace. It was great to use those extra hours with the car to go for a relaxed, unhurried ride.

By late afternoon, unfortunately, it was time to return the car. But even with the little end-of-routine tasks, the weekend was incredible. Good music, hanging out with friends, road trips, laughter, and, of course, a lot of heat from the Baixada. We came back tired, but happy.

It was a whirlwind, but so much fun, and for sure it will stay in our memories as one of the best weekends we’ve ever had.

Que final de semana bom, meu povo! Eu e meu namorado (@michupa) decidimos fazer um bate e volta pela Baixada Fluminense para ir ao Rock Festival Nova Iguaçu. A ideia surgiu de mim porque a banda favorita dele, Raimundos, ia tocar, e ele nunca tinha visto o show deles. Então, nada melhor do que presenteá-lo com a viagem + ingressos, né? A gente mora perto do Rio, mas em outro estado, então resolvi alugar um carro e, claro, fui eu que fiquei dirigindo. Amo dirigir, então já viu: problema nenhum passar algumas horas no volante.

Saímos de casa por volta das 9h da manhã e a primeira parada foi em Duque de Caxias. Lá encontramos meu amigo Thiago e a amiga dele, Carol. Aproveitamos para almoçar juntos no shopping e colocar o papo em dia antes da correria do festival. Depois do almoço, pegamos 'estrada' novamente rumo a Nova Iguaçu. Chegando lá, o calor estava absurdo e a fila para entrar no festival gigante. Ficamos cerca de uma hora esperando e, infelizmente, perdemos o show da primeira banda… mas tudo bem, porque a expectativa pelo Raimundos estava gigante! (Sobre o festival em si, vou contar tudo em outro post, prometo).

Depois do show, ainda rolou aquela “expedição” pela Baixada: fomos deixar Thiago e Carol em São João de Meriti. Sério, parecia que a gente estava fazendo um mini tour por toda a região, kkkk. Só depois seguimos para casa, saindo do Rio por volta da 1h e chegando em casa às 3h30. Confesso que estava cansada, mas dirigir não me incomoda nem um pouco. Na verdade, adoro pegar estrada, mesmo que sejam algumas horas seguidas ao volante.

Na segunda-feira, aproveitando que eu estava de folga e ele de férias, ainda tínhamos algumas horas do aluguel do carro para aproveitar. Acordamos relativamente cedo e fomos até a casa da mãe dele, que fica em uma cidade próxima, para dar um oi rápido. No caminho de volta, paramos para almoçar em um restaurante e, de quebra, passamos rapidinho na minha madrinha no trabalho. Foi ótimo aproveitar essas horas extras do carro para dar umas voltas tranquilas, sem pressa.

No fim da tarde, infelizmente, chegou a hora de devolver o carro na locadora. Mas, mesmo com o finalzinho de rotina, o fim de semana foi incrível. Teve música boa, passeio com amigos, estrada, risadas, e um pouco de muito calor da Baixada. Saímos cansados, mas felizes.

Foi corrido, mas muito divertido, e com certeza vai ficar guardado na memória como um dos finais de semana mais legais que já tivemos.
