MATH-TASTIC and SCIENCE-TERIFIC Day: A Celebration of Learning Through Fun and Discovery

Learning becomes more meaningful when students are given the chance to experience it beyond textbooks and worksheets. At our school, this belief came to life during our much-anticipated MATH-TASTIC and SCIENCE-TERIFIC Day, a special event dedicated to making Mathematics and Science exciting, engaging, and memorable for learners across grade levels.

The event officially kicked off with Math-Tastic activities, spearheaded by our dedicated Math Coordinator, Ms Jemima Mae Isidro. Using her creativity and passion, she designed math activities for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 learners, ensuring that each pupil participated at a level appropriate to their understanding and skill.

For Key Stage 1 pupils, the focus was on developing number sense and basic operations in a fun and interactive way. Pupils eagerly participated in number recognition games, simple addition challenges, and engaging puzzles that let them practice counting and problem-solving. The activities were colourful, playful, and learner-friendly, helping young learners overcome their fear of numbers and build confidence in math. Their excited smiles and enthusiastic participation showed how effective learning can be when combined with play.

Meanwhile, Key Stage 2 pupils were given harder activities that tested their thinking and problem-solving skills. They did addition and multiplication puzzles, logic games, and tasks that needed teamwork and planning. These activities helped them use math in real-life situations and showed that math is about thinking clearly and creatively. Friendly group competitions encouraged working together, self-control, and perseverance—important values that are useful outside of school.

Ms Isidro’s leadership was evident throughout the Math-Tastic sessions. She guided the teachers, motivated the pupils, and ensured that learning objectives were met while maintaining a light, enjoyable atmosphere. Her efforts truly made the math activities an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

As Math-Tastic activities concluded, excitement grew as Science-Terific Day, led by energetic Science Coordinator Mr Keith Lea Pascual, began. The much-anticipated Project Lava Experiment was conducted with intermediate pupils, introducing them to basic scientific concepts such as chemical reactions, observation, and hypothesis-making in a fun, safe environment.
