LIGHTENING STRIKE

Hello my great people of Hive, if feels good to be back again as I am always excited to write to you. Today being the last sunday of the month of August got me feeling a bit down. I woke up with reluctancy and fatigue all over my body feeling as if my whole body will fall apart, which left me very puzzled as to why I was feeling that way because I knew I never subjected myself to any heavy labour or activity the previous day that will drain me that much.

Infact, for the past three days, I have had little time to come out and engage myself in any work because of the heavy rain downpour in this axis, and even though there were intervals in-between the days that the rain seized for some hours, the rainfall still chose not to disappoint after it continued, as if it has a special task or purpose to achieve by falling aggressively. What really got me abit uncomfortable and abit on guard about the downpour was the unexpected sound of lightning that came along with the rain.

Well if am to be sincere about myself, I am not a fan of lightening especially when it happens expectedly, and that was what I experienced yesterday. While I was lying down on my bed and scrolling through my phone viewing and researching on some things, I suddenly heard the sound of lightning as the rain was falling, and it jolted my mind back into awareness and I immediately shifted from the position where I was lying down earlier.

I was very surprised by it, because I had assumed that lightening only happens in the month of September (that's just base on my assumption and experience oo). For some years I had observed and come to realise that September is the month for lightening sounds always (I stand to be corrected please) and that's because it always makes me feel uncomfortable whenever am taken unaware by that sound.

My uncomfortability stems from an experience I had with lightening. When my family was still living in a rented apartment, we had a neighbour that built their house close to the compound we were staying at and we were quite close with them. Suddenly one night on a rainy day, we heard a very powerful lightening sound that felt like it descended on us, waking everybody up from their sleep. It was the most powerful and scary sound I had ever heard in my whole life.

The next morning on steeping out of the house, we saw a scene that baffled and scared us even more. Turns out the lightening truly defended that night but unfortunately it struck a mango tree nearby, dividing the tree cleanly into two and my neighbours house was not left out also. It struck the fence of their house bringing the whole thing down and partly affected a portion of the main building, but thank God there was nobody inside that day.

We contacted them to confirm and we found out that they went to visit their grandparents house that particular day and they were on their way back the next day. Since that incident, I have come to understand the true chaos and danger of lightening strike. In fact, I feel that any natural phenomenon has a very terrible side to it and we just have to tread carefully.

My experience yesterday was what reminded me again of the terrible nature of a lightening strike.
