BUSY WEDNESDAY

Yesterday being Wednesday hasn't been friendly to me at all. Even though its work related, I still felt an unimaginable fatigue weighting on my body, making me feel stressed out. I went to survey a new site for work together with my manager and some other colleagues from work. The community welcomed us well, because they are aware of what we came to do, which is for the benefit of everyone.

The contract was awarded to the company I work for and it's strictly maintenance, because there is an already existing tar road there, but over some years now, part of the road got washed away by water, large potholes were on the road and some culverts that were designed for the road collapsed, with water redirecting itself towards another place. The road is a 5 and half kilometres road that seriously needs maintenance.

We took the company's grader to the site for immediate commencement of work, because time is crucial and of the essence. Work commenced and the operator was able to cover about 1.5 kilometres of work, though it was mainly cutting of edge drains because whenever a heavy rainfall occur, it always crosses above the road thereby damaging the road consistently.

The excavator was later brought to the site also, but the machine did not work because it was already late and we needed to head back to base because accommodation was not sorted yet. Evening though the community chief/king gave us the go ahead to work and was ready to assist in any way in case problem arises, some landlords whom we approached for accommodation purpose were trying to extort a huge some of money from us.

It's a rural area, so at least we all knew accomodation should be cheap, but because the landlords saw that it's a company work, they proposed a 1 million naira price for a 2 bedroom and parlour house, which is not even of standard quality compared to urban houses. And because of that we decided to scout for options elsewhere since they keep bringing up outrages prices even after we try to negotiate a deal with them.

Assuming the houses were of better quality and 3 to 4 more houses were added to the deal making it 1 million, then that won't have become an issue. Because of that we have to go back to base which is almost a 2 hour drive from the site, making everything more exhausting and stressful. I know for certain that the real ordeal starts tomorrow.

That sums up my day entirely

Thank you
