Crossing the Beautiful Toll Bridge

Whenever possible, I usually go to the airport through the toll bridge on Benoa Bay. This beautiful bridge saves me from the traffic jams that happen almost every day. Like today, I had to take the toll bridge to escape the bad traffic.

After paying the ticket with e-money, we (I was with a fellow driver) began driving on this toll road, which is about 14 km long. It connects the airport with areas like Nusa Dua and Sanur. Since I was going from Sanur to the airport, I didn’t have to spend an hour or more in traffic—it only took 20 minutes through this toll bridge.

The view from the bridge over the water was quite fascinating. Passing through the bay, I could see the calm sea. The water stays calm throughout the year because it is inside the bay, protected from the strong waves of the Indian Ocean.

In the distance, there was a mangrove forest on one side. I also saw a reclaimed area where the Benoa Harbor is being developed. Far away, a tall statue of Lord Vishnu stood proudly at about 121 meters high.

The road itself was smooth, with decorative lamp poles in the middle. Different colors of bougainvillea flowers were planted in small gardens between the poles, making the view even more soothing.

While at night, the view of the bay is not clear eventhough there are lights along the toll bridge. So, that's why I always enjoy passing this toll bridge during the day, especially in the morning. The colors of the bay, the sea, and even the mangrove forests are still so vivid. The view is fresh and beautiful.

What a peaceful view in those pictures. It's amazing how something as practical as a toll bridge can have such a beautiful view. It looks gorgeous!

I often take our West Coast road, just to indulge. As the name suggests, it runs right along the western seaboard. What is amazing though, is that aside from the spectacular sunsets we see on this drive, our peninsula is shaped just perfectly at this point to see right across to the eastern Seaboard so in the mornings we get to see the sunrise over the majestic wetlands where flamingos come to rest, among many other species of bird. It's truly a blessing to live here!
