Keeping It Clean: My Saturday Morning Grass-Clearing Experience

Cleanliness, they say, is next to godliness, and a clean society and environment are very necessary for healthy living.

Since it's the rainy season, and it has been raining cats and dogs lately, the grasses around my environment have kept growing greener by the day. There has hardly been time to cut them, especially with the constant rain.

However, today, thanks be to God, it didn't rain in the morning. I woke up quite early, quickly arranged one or two things in my room, then headed to the store. I picked up the machete and sharpened it, put on my hand gloves to avoid blisters, and moved to the field where the work began. I cleared the grasses, and it took me about an hour plus to finish.

After that, I got a local sweeping broom since there was no rake, gathered the grasses, and packed them. The duty didn't end there. I went on to sweep the surroundings, picked up fallen leaves, and ensured that everything was neat and well arranged.

Now the environment looks serene. The field, which is the entrance to the compound, is now cleared and safe for passage, even at night. This cleaning did not just benefit my compound, but it also extended to neighboring houses, because no insect or crawling animal can now use that area as a habitat.

So, let’s always strive to keep our environment clean at least once a week. It protects us from danger and promotes healthy living.
