A Graduation Ceremony That Left Parents Disappointed

So yesterday my kids celebrated their graduation ceremony at their school, and it was a whole lot of unusual experiences. Everything about the ceremony started so off. At first, there was a heavy downpour from 5am yesterday until almost 9am; meanwhile, the event was supposed to begin by 9am sharp.

So looking at the weather conditions and how many places are flooded already, the school management had to reach out to parents via our WhatsApp platform to inform us that the event has been postponed to 1pm. It was understandable, so by 12 noon, my kids, hubby, and I got prepared and began going.

On our way, our car got trapped on a very bad road. Fortunately, we had people who came through to push the car out; by then, another rainfall began, and I was so wet. Our two tires were already affected, and we had to visit a mechanic shop. Before we could finish repairing the car, time was already against us, and my kids, who are graduating, were already crying that they won't meet up with their fellow students to match on the podium.

We drove so fast and reached the school when the graduates were already marching towards the podium. I had to quickly register my kids and put them on the queue. No time to take pictures; I was not happy about that because I love keeping memories. However, I consoled myself by saying that after the event, we can still take pictures for memory's sake.

Unfortunately, it rained cats and dogs just after we sat down in the venue. The worst part of the rain was that it was dropping on all of us, including parents and students. The kind of big canopy the school provided was leaking a lot, and the iron holding it was not firm enough to the extent that it was threatening to fall down before guys had to stand up and hold it with both their hands until the event was over. It was so terrible to behold ... what I saw was a lack of adequate planning, just interest in money.

It was a very annoying and boring event. The kids weren't comfortable enough to perform, unlike before, due to the rain falling on everyone. Everything was just going negatively, and I couldn't help but hope for a better day.

Now the school billed each student #40,000 for this event. The money was so high that parents complained a lot, yet they couldn't even rent a big hall that would be convenient for everyone considering the weather. The food and drinks weren't something to write home about, and I am wondering what the hell they used the money we paid for.

Overall, the event was awkward, terrible, and annoying, and it rained until we were dismissed, so I couldn't have an opportunity to take the pictures with my kids as planned, except that when they received awards, the school camera snapped them. Hopefully, I will get to save that one when the school publishes the photos.
