Welcoming Summer Break- Treating Kids Fried Chicken and Spaghetti

Hello eveyone. Hope you are having a nice day!

I guess some parents are enjoying summer break with their kids and spending their vacation elsewhere.

Here in the Philippines, school usually ends between the months of March and April. This school year, the classes ended at the last day of March. So the kids could finally enjoy their summer vacation approximately for 2 months before classes resume.

It has always been my mom's tradition to treat her class for a free meal when the classes are over. Yes, my mom is actually a public school teacher at our place and she is teaching Grade 4 students.

We were really busy in the morning since our whole family helped with the preparation. My mom planned to treat her class for a lunch. She planned to prepare spaghetti and fried chicken.

My father and my brothers woke up early in the morning to slaughter our raised chickens. My mom went to school for a bit to finish some urgent reports while I started chopping some ingredients that she would be using to cook spaghetti. As soon as my mom came home, we started cooking and we assisted her.

Later, the kids started showing up but we were not yet able to finish cooking. Good thing we live nearby the sea and so the kids requested if they could go swim first. And so they did. They enjoyed swimming and diving too. It was terribly hot somehow so it was good for the kids.

It was almost lunch time when we finished cooking. So we called the kids to get some food. We might have prepared a few menu but it was a lot that we were even able to give some for the neighbors. The kids could also come back for additional food as long as they want. I could see how happy they were.

We actually live in a poor neighborhood and most of the kids come from poor families. I can even hear stories from my mom when some of her students come to school without breakfast. So sometimes she asks food from home to feed her hungry students. Such stories actually breaks our hearts especially my mom who is naturally generous.

Thus, despite the prices increasing, the parents and the kids were truly appreciative of the free meal. We could just give enough because we also barely live but I really hope someday and I really dream that someday I could give much more for the least advantaged ones. My mom personally received messages from the parents expressing their gratitude of treating their kids.

Above all, I was so happy that our whole family worked together to make this possible and no complains at all. My father even assisted from the beginning until the end of the event. he helped with the preparation and even in distributing food. I was truly amazed by him because back then, he used not to care. Now I truly feel how joyful it is to give to others as a whole family and we need no occasion to be generous. We could always be kind and good every time.
