Preparing the Venue for our Assembly- A New Place Explored

We are currently in Kanangga Leyte to prepare for an special event tomorrow. We will be having an assembly. It is really exciting because we could get to meet our old friends and gain new friends and together we could hear a whole day provision of comforting and encouraging talks from the Bible. But today, we were privileged to help in preparing for the venue.

I came with some friends. And it is our first time in the place. I really appreciate how the brothers and sisters in the organization arranged for a free accomodation for us and provided the things we need during the stay. As I already mentioned, we came early to prepare for the venue. The assembly is going to be held in a gymnasium.

Our accomodation is a 10 minute walk from the venue. We could just ride a rickshaw but we chose to walk to explore to feel exercised but mainly to save money. We tried to remember the path we took when we first arrived but the funny thing is that we got lost around the neighborhood and just tried any path which feels right. It was really a funny experience and we were just taking our time discovering some places like beautiful and huge houses and I oobserved there is a lot of food stalls in the area. However, they don’t have a lot of big malls. There is just one department store and sadly there isn’t any leisure park or nice beaches to visit. I have expected too much from this town but faced with a different reality. Anyway, I just enjoyed the company of my friends and the main purpose of our stay.

It was still early when we reached the venue so my friends decided to visit a thrift shop. I would say there is a lot of thrift shops in the town that offers very cheap but quality clothes. Each of us were able to buy clothes from a shop. I also paid a visit to their lone department store. It was quite big and so I was expecting to find a lot of stuff only to find that it was just very spacious and you can’t really find much items.

After some time of exploration, we went back to the venue and a meeting for safety was already started. We were reminded of how to work properly to keep everyone safe including how to safely handle the tools and equipments to prevent any damages. We were divided in different groups with different tasks. This provided me an oppportunity to meet new friends coming from other places.

There was really a lot of work such as installing audio video wires, cleaning and arranging the chairs the chairs and benches and setting up the stage. Everyone worked really hard.

We were also grateful for the snacks and lunch provision from our loving brothers and sisters in faith. We finished the work early as expected and got home happily and excited for tomorrow's event.
