In Nigeria, there's a program called The National Youth service Corps (NYSC) created in. It is a compulsory one year program which dictates that every individual who graduates from either the university or polytechnic before the age of 30 must serve the country, build themselves, learn skills and understand society before they can be acknowledged as complete graduates ready for the world ahead.
Having graduated from the Federal University Of lafia September last year, I have been looking forward to the moment I finally get to offer my services to my motherland. After months of waiting, the portal finally opened in April and on that very day I hurriedly registered with the intention of starting as early as possible. However due to the high rate of applicants, my service was shifted until further notice leaving me unsure if I was even possible to experience it this year. With this level of uncertainty, I decided to leave it all in the hands of fate and continue with my job as a teacher, giving my all to the kids while engaging on this blockchain on the side. This continued for quite some time and I was already getting used to my new lifestyle but deep down I still had this nagging sensation that something was definitely going to change everything and it did.
After the third term was over for the school I taught in, I decided to spend the holiday with my aunt since I haven't seen her for over 5 years now. I got to her place and was absolutely having a blast for three weeks until i got a message on the 18th of July urging me to get ready because I must report to the orientation camp on the 30th of the same month. A little over a week later (on the 27th to be exact), a letter was sent to my portal with the state Ondo as the location for my service.

I have never been to Ondo and was kinda skeptical about the place because I have heard from people about how expensive life is in western Nigerian. Nevertheless I was still going to make the best out of this situation just like I always do. Since the place is new to me, I decided to travel a day before the 30th which is today to beat any irregularities. At first I thought about travelling from the park close to where I live in suleja Niger state as it was the only one I knew but instead chose to come to Abuja as it offered a smooth travelling experience, was faster and their prices were slightly cheaper according to my sister. I left home by 6:25 on my way to jabi park in Abuja, when I got there an hour, i got the shock of my life after discovering that their prices were more expensive than the one back at home. It was already too late for me to go back at this point as that would be a total waste of money so I angrily paid for my fare and hopped inside a rusty looking mini van. This whole experience just solidified my belief on the saying "Making the right decisions doesn't always produce the best results". .....

Since boarding this car it has been one problem after the other and even though it was ready for departure since past 9, it did not move till 12 PM. I am still on the road heading to Ondo state it is almost 5 PM and with all that has happened today, one thing is already certain to me: I AM NEVER PATRONIZING THESE PEOPLE EVER AGAIN.
