I was invited to a fashion school owned by my friend somewhere on the island to teach her students the Helen Armstrong pattern basic skirt.
I wasn't scared because I've gotten used to teaching pattern drafting right from when I was in a fashion school.
Although the students were much in number than what I envisaged but that didn't stop me from delivering an eloquent presentation.
From their applause I could tell they loved the teaching so much and learned something valuable.
On the board, is the basic skirt pattern, with this diagram one can confidently make any kind of skirt out of this flat pattern.

It would need just a few alteration to achieve a parent, mermaid or slash and spread skirt.
Fashion is actually sweet when you know what you're doing. Moving on, I also taught them how to use the industrial sewing machine.
Many student find it difficult to operate the industrial sewing machine. That's because most of them have access to only manual machine and using the industrial machine requires techniques.

The passing of the thread on the industrial machine is quite different from that of the manual machine.
I took them on how to pass a thread on the industrial machine, how to reel a thread and how to fix the bobbin into a bobbin case.
They were really excited to have learned some new methods and usage of the industrial machine.
Next week, I will teach them how to sew with the industrial machine. I can't wait to see the excitement on their faces.
I gave them three assignments. To draft a basic skirt flat pattern, see a basic skirt and iron the skirt like a professional designer.
I hope they'll deliver a very neat job for me. Until next week, I can't wait to see how far they've mastered the new technique being taught in school.
My friend was really excited I came through for her. That's how friendship should be. Showing up for one another when the need is there.
When I left her school for house, I got stuck in traffic and that was the terrible thing about the whole day. I spent over two overs on the road which wasn't supposed to be so. At most I should have spent an hour. I noticed that the road was being repaired. So one part of the road was closed for reconstruction.
I got back home quite exhausted, I couldn't even continue my client's project. I managed to eat, bath and the next thing was to sleep.
I didn't even know when my alarm rang to write a post. Obviously I've missed a day streak of writing but that didn't stop me from sharing how my day went. It's already Saturday in my end, it's midnight as well. I love the peace and stillness of the night. I got strengthened by the quietness and decided to share how I spent my day.
I hope you have a beautiful weekend.

Thank you very much
Wow, what a full and rewarding day! I can feel the excitement and acre you put into teaching your friends students. Its clear how passionate you are about fashion and sharing your skills.
Its also relatable to me how the traffic on the way home completely drained you. πSometimes, no matter how good the day has been, the road can steal your energy.
