As I pointed out in my post yesterday, my wife and I had some pretty amazing weather on our trip up to Wilderness State Park in the extreme north of Michigan's lower peninsula. If you missed the trip we took to the local lighthouse you see above, you should check that out by visiting the post in my profile. We also spent a bit of time at the Heritage Village which is sponsored by the Mackinaw Area Historical Society.

While we didn't actually get out of the truck, we took a short drive to the property, and I think if we ever visit this area again in the future, we will likely check it out a bit more. It seems there is a lot more to the facility than I originally realized. The image above is of the Freedom School which is a one room schoolhouse that was built in 1885 in Freedom, MI before it was moved to this site.

They also have a small pump that was running. We tried to get a closer picture of the sign without getting out of the truck, but we didn't have much luck!

This next building that I took a photo of out the window of my truck is called the "Pest House". It is the only remaining pestilence house in the state of Michigan, and was built in the 1890's. Back in those times the best option available for people with severe illness was isolation, thus pest houses were usually located at the far corner of a town.

There were actually a lot more buildings on the property that I didn't get photos of, but these last shots I took were of one of the old restored homesteads that they built for tourists. As I said, this area had a lot more to offer and I think I should come back in the future to check it out.
As we were driving back to the campground, we passed this cute little cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan near the town of Cecil Bay. From the road it didn't look like much, but we figured it was still probably around a million dollars given the lake frontage that it had. Little did we know the truth! We looked up the listing and were shocked at what we saw! Check it out below.
Anyone have a cool three mil to drop on an absolutely stunning home?

We cooked some amazing food on the flat top griddle. This was actually one of the best attempts at an omelette I have ever made. We found a new process of doing it where you pour your egg mixture onto your shredded potatoes so it doesn't spread all over the place. Then you just kind of wrap it up and add some cheese. @mrsbozz and I split this and it was delicious. I know it still looks messy, but trust me this is an improvement!

Of course we also spent a good deal of time just hanging around the campsite and enjoying nature. @mrsbozz took a few naps, I finished a book I had been reading, and we saw some amazing sunsets! Michigan truly is a magical place with a lot of history. If you ever get the chance, I encourage you to check it out!
