That is when the weather starts to become cold... Early October can still be OK in the mid sixties, but second half is usually bad with about 50% chance of rain each day and temperatures dropping into 50's and even forties...

I think we were looking at the middle of October. We might need to reconsider. I don't really know if our time frame was going to give us enough time to explore outside of the city anyway.
