I have always wanted to learn how to swim, I mean for such a life skill, learning it would be of great benefit to me and it could save a life someday.
When my sisters suggested we go swimming, I laughed out really hard. For people who canāt swim or do not know jack about swimming the audacity for them to want to do it and they said it with so much confidence that youād think they are both swimmers. Regardless of us not knowing how to swim, we still decided to give it a shot, but that's life, right? Being spontaneous and living your life one day at a time.
Bags packed, adrenaline pumping, we arrived at the pool. My sister's friend was kind enough to be our unpaid swim instructor.
Going swimming that day was both fun and exhilarating. I canāt count how many times I called on Godās name or screamed for help.
I hate to admit it, but I am a little bit scared of water. For someone who is from the riverine part of my country, I failed my people yet again as I am expected to love water and swim effortlessly like a mermaid but too bad most of us were born differently.
Since swimming is a life skill that could save my life or someonelseās in the future, I decided to give it a try again after so many failed attempts.
We all laughed, shouted, and made jokes about the whole event.
My sisterās friend was giving various instructions but we were doing what our brains told us to doš
Our beautiful instructor kept emphasizing the need to accept that the water wonāt harm us. My fragile heart couldnāt accept that, water is water and it can do and undo, so yeah not a chance!
We all failed woefully at learning the basics of swimming that day, I guess it was a family thing, no DNA requiredš we arenāt proud of ourselves too but then again we had so much fun.
Thankfully this was a new place so they didnāt have so many customers around so it was easier for us to laugh and embarrass ourselves with fewer people around.
My swimming experience with my sisters is the highlight of my year so far.
We sometimes need to experience things that would shake us really hard and make us laugh uncontrollably. We spend so much time being serious and keeping a strong facade, but sometimes itās okay to loosen up and have fun to the fullest, live a littleš„°
Anyways, this is another failed attempt at swimming, maybe the next attempt will be a success but until then Iāll pray and hope I donāt laugh all through the swimming classes without learning anything.
If you ever feel stressed and you need to unwind, I recommend swimming. Yeah, I canāt swim but I sure know it helps a lot, donāt ask me how pleaseš
It was fun recounting this experience with you all. Over to you all; Can you swim? Do you love swimming or you suck at it like me? Iāll love to read your thoughts in the comment section.

Swimming is fun no doubt and to reply your question, yes I can swim. *I can swim in my bath tub alone. To the audience of one šššš
My dear, I also have a phobia for water as it scares the heck out of me. It can do and undo šš
Hahahhahaha it sure can do an undo my darlingšš
Ohhh I seeā¦šš
Yes ooooššš
Swimming in your bath tub abah! Well done ooooo
Yes oo
There's something healing about being in water, even if youāre just floating around like a confused starfish.
Swimming is one of those life skills that seems so simple.... until you're in the water and your body forgets every YouTube tutorial you've ever seen. I can swim (somewhat), but I lowkey panic when the water goes above chest level, so we might be on the same wave still
Spot on!!šš
So how do we solve this problem Seun? Trust our guts and face it head on?š
I wish I could have this life skill but as if I have forbia for water. But it is a good skill to be learnt. Keep trying, you will soon be the best, next time try to follow the instructor ooo
A big AMEN to this!!š«”š«”
Iāll keep trying and hopefully my next attempt will be great.
Thanks for stopping byš„°

Hahaha, as much as I love water, I can't swim because I can't just give myself up whenever I try to enter the pool.

I don't know a jack about swimming , yet, I want to experience the fun oo š...come and teach nkem during summer ..lol
Swimming is good because it refreshes the body. I can't swim but I would love to learn.
I can only imagine how exciting that moment would be for you, having to share such moments of learning new thing your sister.
I'm yet to learn how to swim, but I hope to do so soon.
It sounds fun that you and your sister had a nice time in the pool. It is exciting to learn and you might be eager to do so in order to enjoy swimming but it is best to follow the instructions your friend was kindly offering. Maybe next time it will be less scary if floats and armbands are used. Swimming is fun and is indeed a vital life skill which could be helpful to yourself and others.
