Google is unable to keep up with the AI race

Every day, I keep hearing or learning something new about AI stuff. It is very interesting to learn such new things, but the tricky part is how hard it is to keep up with the trend. I think in another 2 years, software development will be completely changed, and it is very hard right now to predict what can happen in the future, but from what I see, there are so many changes in the last few months, and I see the results evidently because of those changes. It is amazing to be in this era.

When AI started blooming, I was expecting a lot from Google because they are very well known for revolutionizing the top companies. Of course, they have done a lot of things in terms of AI and AI-related development, and some people even say that they are the inspiration for people in OpenAI to deliver ChatGPT. Most of the background work is not known to the general public, and it was visible only after the release of ChatGPT. It is very interesting to see how the world is transitioning with the help of AI.

It is a shame that Google cannot keep up with the speed at which AI is evolving. Today I was doing some research to find out if Google is offering a tool that can be used for coding or not similar to Claude or Codex. To my surprise, there was one available in Visual Studio Code. I wanted to give it a try, but then I noticed that the rating was very poor. I even read the comments from people there, and I dropped the idea. We already have some good working AI code assistants available, and we don't need a broken one. I did not want to waste my time on that. Today, with the help of AI, there are so many amazing things that can be done.

It is very sad to see Google in this position, and I hope someday Google will come up with something amazing to contribute to this AI world and set a benchmark. That's how things have been in the past, and we still have so many tools from Google that we cannot live without. AI Mode in Google Chrome itself is doing an amazing job for us to provide a summary of the information that we are looking for. So things might change in the future, and this can be a good thing in the future. Let's wait and watch.
