Heroes at Home, Icons in the World

Growing up we all have people we look up to for their mind-blowing impact on our lives, the world, or what have you, and these often lead to a point where we admire their personality to the point of wishing we were them because they've gone on to be our role model. It's worth noting that this is absolutely normal, and many of us have these mindsets growing up; even now some people do, and that's why in this article I'll be reflecting on my life, talking about someone I used to wish I was, my role model, and much more, and I hope you stick around to learn about all the intriguing tales surrounding these decisions.

My earliest role models while growing up were my parents, and my reason for that isn't far-fetched; I just can't get my mind off how much of a life saver they are, individuals who'll put their lives and comfort on the line just so their children can survive and amount to something in life. While many might think that isn't a big deal since it's their responsibility to do as parents towards every child they bring to the world, I can't help but appreciate their efforts, knowing fully well that there are kids just like my siblings and I who wish they had parents like ours because theirs are careless about their survival, upkeep, and education.

All of these put together make me adore them, and I still do to this day. In fact, I go on to draw inspiration from them on how I'd love to treat and cater for my children, although despite how amazing they were, we weren't rich, and that's where some lapses come from, and probably why, despite how I see them as a role model, I don't actually want to be like them in everything. When I was much younger, in fact, it was someone else I wanted to be like, someone very popular in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who happens to be the richest Black man, and a major reason why I admire him and want to be like him is because of his wealth.

Wealth is one thing that eluded me and my family from childhood, and I understand how much we couldn't do because of monetary issues, and that's probably why I wanted to be Dangote that bad. Knowing the amount of wealth he controls and the unlimited possibilities of what I can do and achieve with those, it's more like an endless possibilities achievement, goals being actualized, and the like.

While I admired him and really wanted to be like him back then, I still do to date, but then I understood that I needed to reinvest myself, indulge in acts that position me to acquire wealth myself and then tide around for my good, and delve into entrepreneurship and the like; overall, I'm open to learning, delving into business, and overall giving my children the kind of life my parents couldn't give me.

It’s a blessing having parents that know their responsibilities and do it with their might and mind. Like you said, there are people out there who wish to have parents like yours but they don’t.

It’s a good thing to have more than one role model as long as they inspire you to be the best of yourself.

I think parents are the biggest role models in our lives because they impact our lives in ways other people can't, especially our mothers

That's absolutely right, they're our knight in shining armour.

I love how you appreciate your parents’ sacrifices, not everyone was blessed with that kind of support growing up.
