A Resolution That Redefined My View of Change

Through the years I've come across people's New Year's resolutions, and they're always an interesting read or statement to listen to. I find them intriguing because I'm always eager to hear them, hoping some of their resolutions could be a lesson in disguise and hold something I might be able to adopt for my journey through the year or at a later date in the future. And that has happened on many occasions, but then when it comes to amazing, wholesome, or beautiful New Year's resolutions, I've heard from people—I must say that I've actually heard a whole lot of them—and below I'll be talking about one of them.

Like I stated above, I've been privileged to come across lots of amazing resolutions, some of which are related to personal life, growth, career orientation, family, and so on. And each time I go through them, I'm impressed and can't help but look forward to when I'll get to those stages so I can include them in my life journey resolution as well. Some are financial-related or possession-centered, amongst many others, to name but a few. Given the fact that I've seen many of these, I was really intrigued when I saw one particular resolution of an individual, which was way different and unusual. It makes me see humans in a new light and that we all can recognize our mistakes and be charged to do better without being told.

So with that, let's go to the most amazing or beautiful resolution I've heard. I actually saw it from a celebrity, and I was surprised when I heard what he wrote in his resolution. I was even more shocked, wowed, and amazed when I learned he has stood by that resolution for not just a week, but for years now. I'm sure you'll be wondering who and what the resolution was all about. Well, it's a Nigerian musician known as Zlatan Ibile. He sometimes in 2020 came out to evaluate his life and said he'd love to stop smoking. When I saw the news, I must confess I hissed because he's someone I know who smokes almost anything from cigarettes to weed and the like, so I thought it was one of their publicity stunts, but at the end of the day, it turned out to be real. And I just say I find it interesting to see someone who recognizes that they're doing someone wrong and recognizes the need for a positive change.

Although he attributed the need for the resolution and his ability to stick to it to the fact that he built his first house and had his parents and siblings move in with him. Citing the fact that he lives with his parents makes it easy for him to quit smoking and that his desire is to have better focus and lasting endurance in his vocal cords so as to better his music output. It was a different kind of resolution and that's why I find it both amazing and beautiful, because it's quite different from the usual I want to get better, I want to buy car, I want to build house, I want to have lots of money kind of resolution I see often.

Wow. I also said wow and even smiled. I know how hard it is for these people to stop these habits. Congratulations to him. This is really impressive.
