See we know that democracy is supposed to be about order, fairness, and also about making life better and easier for we citizens, ehn. ... because if there are no rules, everywhere will just scatter and nobody will want to respect anybody again, so I understand that a country does needs laws and regulations to function well, but omo… sometimes I look at some constitutional rules and policies that we have in nigeria and I just start asking myself .... ahn ahn, who even sat down to think about this one?
One thing that always confuses me is how we have plenty plenty laws that sound good on paper but then in real life they do not achieve anything, likeeee, nothing to show for it, okay take for example, you will hear that street trading is illegal in some places, okay, fineo, but the same country has high unemployment, people are struggling to survive, and there are no proper systems to support small businesses, so ..... I wonder, what exactly do we expect people to do, do we sit down at home and be hungry? Omo .... this life no be theory.

Another one is traffic and transport rules, there are areas where okada is banned, but you will still see them everywhere because people really depend on it to move around, the government bans it, but there is no reliable transport alternative like that, So enforcement becomes selective, today they chase them, tomorrow nobody talks again, It just makes the law look unserious, and when citizens see inconsistency, they stop respecting rules entirely.
What even pains me pass is how some laws only seem to work for poor people, If an average person breaks a rule, punishment will come fast fast, but now, when big men break bigger rules, suddenly the matter will disappear, see ehn.... Omo, that one weakens people’s belief in democracy, because democracy is supposed to mean equality before the law, not equality depending on your pocket size.
Sometimes I honestly feel like the people who created some policies were not thinking about the everyday Nigerian realit, because rules are supposed to guide society forward and not to frustrate people or exist just for decoration, If a law cannot be enforced properly, or it does not match the economic situation of citizens, then what is the point?
For democracy to truly work, laws need to be practical and fair, citizens should feel protected, not oppressed, there should also be consistency , if something is illegal, then it should be illegal for everybody, not only certain groups, and government should also create opportunities that make it easier for people to obey rules naturally.
At the end of the day, rules are not the problem, we actually need them, but the kind of rules that make people scratch their head and say ahn ahn, those ones need serious reconsideration, because when laws stop making sense to citizens, respect for the system starts reducing small small.
And once that respect is gone, the democracy itself starts shaking Omo,
see ehn, that one no good for anybody.

Like what I always hear there's no punishment for country who doesn't have laws but there's punishment for country who have laws or how do they use to say it? Honestly, the way they treat poor and average people is not good. For example, we are told not pour water on the road, and mistakenly a poor man pour water and the police sees that man the way they will beat the man, they won't even care whether the man is old and can give birth to them. But if a rich young boy pour water, the police won't even dare to say something even they will tell him to keep pouring the water in as much the rich guy is giving them money.
The truth is Nigeria is not improving at all due to the government's we have, because when they refuse to give jobs to people especially graduates because imagine in a year thousands of students graduated from different universities and yet no jobs for them and you expect them not to do illegal things to survive? Because if they don't how will they survive or put food on their tables?
My dear, sheybe it's this Nigeria that we are in ehn... Make God just help person.
Alot of unfairness going on and nothing is done to rectify it.
I really do hope we get it right eventually!
