What Would I Do If I Found $500,000?

Hello everyone,

Let me be honest this is not an easy situation at all Imagine walking to your small job, the kind of job that pays just enough to survive and then you see a suitcase on the ground you open it, and it’s full of money $500,000 cash.

At first, you’ll be shocked your heart will beat fast You’ll look around to be sure nobody is watching you then later, you hear on the news or online that one of the richest politicians in the country lost a suitcase, and the description matches the one you found. Now, you’re confused what should you do?

To be real, the first thought many people will have is to keep the money after all, it belongs to a politician and many of them are not clean most people believe they don’t even work hard for their money. They collect from the country and leave the poor to suffer. So, you may think, “Why should I return it? I need the money more than him.”

But here’s my thinking if I take that money, even though nobody saw me, I’ll always remember what I did, I’ll live in fear, I’ll keep looking over my shoulder What if someone saw me and is just waiting to expose me? What if the money is traced? Or what if it’s a setup? Different question will be coming into my mind.

And more importantly, I’ll ask myself what kind of person do I want to be do I want to become like the same people we complain about those who take what’s not yours and never think about others.

Even though life is hard and I really need the money I’ll try to do the right thing I’ll find a safe and smart way to report it may be I will go to the police or a lawyer to protect myself too I’ll make sure I have proof that I returned it.

It may not be easy and I know people will even laugh at me or call me foolish but I believe peace of mind is better than quick money you don’t know what God might use your honesty to do for you in future we complain about how this country is, but change really starts from us if i want to see better leaders, I must also try to act right when I get the chance even when nobody is watching.

So for me, I’ll return the money not because I trust the politician but because I trust the kind of person I want to become.

I believe that doing the right thing still dey important even if the person that own the money no be saint I will feel more peace in my heart knowing that I no let greed win and who knows maybe returning that money fit open greater door for me in future so life dey funny like that sometimes.

Is small things will show who you really be. I no go let someone else’s bad behavior turn me into thief. If I will fight corruption i will start from myself.
