Three Major Change - Belief, Money, And Money.

(edited)

One major thing about me is the fact that I don't really believe in superstitions. If something is not logical, or if it has no scientific proof, it's crap. Sometimes, I even question my Christian beliefs. you know, the validity of Bible stories.

I would not say that I'm completely an atheist, but, rather than believing in some stories like the existence of charms, gods, and other things, I actually prefer to reason logically.

A few years ago, we were given holidays in school, so, I decided to visit my uncle and his family. I got there, we had fun, and time flew to when the holiday expired.

Not wasting time, I set out to go back to school. The journey began peacefully, and I was actually enjoying it. I got off the bus at my first stop, so, I headed to the next location where I will take another bus that will take me straight to my school. The second journey is estimated to be about an hour long.

When I was rushing to catch the second bus, an advert got my attention. The man advertised some good phones for as low as 5 thousand naira. During these times, phones were very expensive. They worth a lot more than 5 thousand.

Here's the thing, I actually know it's an obvious scam, or the phone is not actually good. One a normal day, I would not even pay attention to such things but on that day, something was different.

I totally forgot my self and I forgot the fact that I had a busy to catch. Without kinding my luggage, I went straight to the stand where I heard the advert coming from.

They said I'll have to play a game and stake 5 thousand. If I won, I'll get the phone, but if I lost, my 5k has gone. Again, I'm not the type to gamble, no matter how juicy the rewards were. Back then, I even refused to learn forex because I saw it as a gamble.

Still, without second thought, I threw my money in. I lost the first game, and it was as if my heart went into my stomach. You know, when your kind cut. I don't know what they call it, but it was as if I was having a heart attack.

My hands were shaky but the zeal of getting back my lost money made things worse. I continued playing. After exhausting the cash I had, I got a POS attendant, and I continued playing until I had about 5k remaining in my account. This was when my eyes began to clear.

When I saw that I had exhausted my money, I began to dawn on me that I may have to trek back to school. I began to please with the man to help me with some money so that I will use as transport back to school.

After seeing my pitiful state, he asked me to wait. Next, he placed the rope we were using to play on his forehead. Then, he used the pen. To secure the rope on his forehead and then he looked up to the sky. After doing that, he reached for his pocket, and removed money. I think that was a thousand naira or so. I've forgotten.

He handed me the money and instructed me not to look back as I walk. Honestly, in my mind, I told my self that I would look back. Why would this man take all my money and instruct me to not look back? I asked my self.

Did you know that as I was going, I totally forgot that I wanted to look back. I didn't look back until I got to the bus. There, I bought two cold sachet water and drank. That was when I remembered that I was supposed to look back.

I got to school, told my friends about it and they bursted in laughter. I was pained. Like, I'm telling you that I was reaped and the best you can do is laugh at me. Lol.

They told me that I was charmed and it happened a lot in that area. They also told me their encounter.

Welp after that day, I began to believe in charms. My atheism began to fade as I began to believe in spiritual things but I still don't believe in superstitions though and I still question some certain things.

Another belief that changed over the years is the fact that people always say, money is the root of all evil. Over the years, I use to believe this, but today, I believe that being broke and stupid is the root of all evil.

Money? Money brings happiness. Tell me, what's more amazing than buying your parents or loved ones the things they desire? As a man, imagine your daughter or son being blown away by a house or car you can not afford.

I saw a video where a little girl was in a car, driving with her parents. The next thing she said was.... "Look at that house... People have a lot of money but we don't." Tell me, what's more heart breaking than this?

Some other things I've experienced in life made me change my perspective from - money is the root of all evil, to, money is the source of happiness, respect and loyalty. Though it brings fake friends, too, but first make money.

Lastly, the final belief I changed is that it doesn't matter if somebody got instant money or something, all that matters is that they have money.

I have come to understand that It actually matters a lot how you got your money. Majority of people that got instant money, end up losing it. That's why majority of scammers will spend their money in hotels, carrying girls, and drinking all night. Small small, person go come turn to old taker.

Conversely, when somebody passes through the process of acquiring wealth, they will do everything within their power to multiply that wealth.

One thing about being a millionaire is not the money but it's the process the person passed through which gave them experience and ultimately, money. No matter how many times he falls, with his experience, he will always come back up unlike the ones that got fast money.

Thank you for reading.
