Web 3 untapped Opportunities : Some reasons why people are holding back.
Greetings to my friends and everyone around the globe. It’s another exciting week and I’m very happy to be here once again after being away for some time. It was a much needed break and not a bad way to kick start my blogging activities by participating in hive Ghana’s weekly write up.
Web 3 undoubtedly is the future of social media, where its users are rest assured of being secured, decentralized and above all transparent. However the are still some particular people for quite a few reason are still holding out and not joining the the revolution of web 3.
The first reason that comes to mind on why people fail to accept or are holding back on the movement of web 3 is “TRUST”. A lot of people have the perception that 99.9 percent of everything on the internet is scam or is not safe. Trust me I’ve been there before, I remember speaking about hive to a friend of mine who had no clue about blockchain and cryptocurrencies, he told me it was too good to be true and it had to be a scam. Due to his past experiences, he had just made his mind that everything on the internet is bad. So I had to show him proofs in other to change his mind. So you see this is a clear example of the lack of trust people have in web 3 due to some unfortunate events that happened to them through the internet.
Another reason that crossed my mind was the technical complexity of Web 3 may also be another factor contributing to why people are holding back instead of embracing it. Even though we may see it to be something that is not complicated, explaining it to a first timer it may sound as something very complicated and complex. So sometimes they feel that they wouldn’t be able to understand it so they choose to ignore it. I’ll take my self here for an example when I first heard about web 3 and the blockchain, I was told about smart contracts, dApp by then I didn’t have any knowledge on web 3 so they sounded Very technical. My initial thought was this one was not for me.
Most people i believe they are holding back because they don’t really know what web 3 entails. The are still some people out there who haven’t heard about web 3 and hive blockchain. It is on us to create hive awareness in other to draw the attention of the masses to the blockchain. The hive Ghana team are doing a great job about that. Once people know what Web 3 really looks is about, it’s benefits and other exciting features and im confident people would embrace web 3.
But I am glad that our ongoing activities are helping to develop a strong taste for making Web3 a daily habit. Thanks for highlighting these, buddy.

Seriously, people have not really know about the web 3 and give block chain , some people think otherwise when you try to talk to them about it , some may it is fraudulent act , because they felt people doing this online are scammer which is not not true well I don't blame the , I am talking form experience
Indeed trust a everything. Most people wouldn’t believe anything about hive when you speak to them about it because it will appear as though you’re trying to scam them. I was once in this position but after learning a few things here and there, my mentality about web 3 changed.
Wow, amazing points here. A lot of people have different reasons why they are not embracing web3 just like you have mentioned. However, I love the good project hive ghana are doing...it's a strong way of getting people informed about web 3
