It's said that “change is constant”. I think that applies to growth in some sense. Since “growing” explores experiencing a change in attitude, character, behaviour, physical qualities, mentality, knowledge and any form or way one could think of. When there's a transition from one stage, one level to another, growth can be said to have taken place.
Imagine life without growth. That would trump the purpose of life and living in some way. That would mean a baby remaining a baby, a premature mind remaining immature, a new business remaining a petty business for years, and so on. It would mean that everything maintains and retains its initial or foundational state, which isn't the desire of anyone I believe.
Growth brings balance to life. It's one thing that gives reason to strive and keep on trying. Anyone who doesn't aim at growth would become impoverished, nor valuable to the world even. Yes, the world we're in is a growing one itself. What is present today wasn't years back, and what is present would be overshadowed in years. Hence, this emphasises the need to desire growth and also grow.
Now, growth happens in a different sense. Most popular and acknowledged is the physical growth, which is evident by anyone who's on this blockchain and reading this post. This isn't something a baby or infant can do. This goes on to also consider intellectual growth. Yes, there's a level of intellect required to read and write. Then, the mental and emotional growth. Sadly, these are areas not popular amongst many. Nevertheless, their importance cannot be neglected.
Growth is something everyone should experience, and life will seem beautiful and more meaningful. Be it physically, emotionally, psychologically or mentally. Like when I was growing up-yes, physically-that day I was able to touch that doorpost, or pick that thing from the fence without any help underneath, I knew I had grown to an extent. Talk of the joy I felt. I guess that can't even be compared to growing those beards/facial hair. It was every boy’s dream to grow up to have that.
This is a common sense of growth, though fulfilling still. Then to when I learnt to read and write, every stage counts for the joy that comes from knowing one has grown into such an ability. I've seen myself grow emotionally as well as mentally and psychologically. They are growths that are not easy to attain. There were times in the past when all it could take to get me pissed or emotionally imbalanced was one act or some scolding. Now, it's a different thing.
I've learnt to accommodate such, and put out the right attitude as well. Mentally, there has been growth. Today, I don't think or reason as I used to. Funny, when I examine some of my past conversations with people, I see a level of growth. And through exposure and relationships/associations, growth was experienced right in my mind; thinking, decision making, manner of approach and what have you.
Growth isn't just about growing, it's about coming into an ability and a responsibility. It's why a man knows his responsibility differs from that of a child and likewise, a woman from that of a girl. The demands differ in all respects too; intellectually, mentally, psychologically, and emotionally. It's why an adult won't be applauded for knowing how to read and write, but when he does successful research, he can receive that applause. It's about growth, in every respect.
Images are mine.
Like you said growth is about having the ability to take on responsibilities no matter how tough it is.
Yeah, that's it.
Thank you.
Growth takes time but its evidence cannot be overemphasized.
Oh yes. Only the patient can give time for growth to take place.
Thank you.
Growth is all about time and when it's time it would be made manifest. Thanks for sharing.
We have to certainly cooperate with time to see or experience growth.
Thank you.
Yes ooo. You're welcome.
One of the characteristics of life is growth. The moment one stops growing, they start dying
Hmmm that's true. Growth is indeed a characteristic of life.
