Policies That Exists Only On Paper.

You know sometimes you just sit down. Think about how things are supposed to work in reality, really it just gets confusing, That is how I feel when the topic of rules and policies comes up, I am not against rules and regulations In fact I believe rules are necessary because people need structure, and without guidelines everyone will just do what they like and society will not move forward.. there are some rules in Nigeria that make you question whether the people who created them were actually thinking about the everyday person.

One rule that confuses me is how some government positions are structured, They do not benefit the citizens directly, They use up a lot of public money, you see them in offices doing almost the same job, unnecessary appointments or procedures that slow everything down, it makes you wonder if the goal was really development or just creating opportunities for people.

For example the bureaucracy involved in getting simple hings done is exhausting, something that should take one week can take months because of approvals and paperwork, these rules do not help the system, they just frustrate citizens.. When people get frustrated they look for shortcuts, which creates corruption, so the rule that was supposed to create order actually does the opposite.

Another thing is policies that look good on paper but do not match our reality, You hear about regulations meant to protect citizens, when it comes to implementation nothing happens,It is like the rule only exists so someone can say, "Yes we have a law for that, . It achieves nothing in real life, that disconnect makes people lose trust in the system.

I believe democracy should be practical, Laws should solve problems, not just exist, If a policy does not improve peoples lives or make systems more efficient then what is the purpose? Sometimes it feels like some rules were created without considering how ordinary citizens live.

Despite all this I still believe rules are important, No kind country can function without them, thee problem is not the existence of laws, it is when laws stop serving the people, democracy works best when policies are actually realistic and beneficial and at the end of the day what citizens want is simple, rules that make life easier not harder, when laws truly serve the people respect, for the system comes naturally.. ehen they do not that is when you hear Nigerians say, This one no make sense at all.
