Tradition is something most if us if not all are very conversant with, we've all be taught in schools as well as our homes what tradition means and if i can remember its defined as
"the beliefs, customs, practices, or ways of doing things that are passed down from generation to generation within a culture, community, or group."
Hope i had a touch of that primary school definition, well tradition is often rooted in history, religion, or social norms, and it shapes identity, values, and Because there is tradition you could watch a persons way of life and identify whichever part of the world he or she is although tradition is believed to be rural and so there's this limitation of innovation,in my opinion urban standards should also have a touch of tradition.
Tradition has been believed by many to limit innovation but does it actually does that?
Let's take a closer look at this topic, let's see how tradition can support innovation, traditions can offer a stable base on which new ideas are built e.g., architectural innovations built on classical principles, the use of hand knitted fishing nets which proper innovation has now given us good nets.Innovation grounded in tradition often resonates more deeply with people because it respects identity, there's always yhis fine touch.
We've seen the good stuffs tradition can do but then somehow it also limits innovation majorly by resistance to change when the people begin to insist "We've always done it this way" it has the potency to stifle new ideas or methods,to top it up there's this fear of breaking norms and so social or religious pressure may discourage thinking outside the box, this is a huge limitation.
Should we then discard tradition? No it still does have an advantage, rather we should create a balance between tradition and innovation.Balance is key, innovation will thrive best when we all get to understand tradition so we don’t destroy meaningful values blindly But at the same time are not afraid to challenge or evolve it when necessary.
A tradition i feel holds us back is one that suppress women’s roles and voices in the community or even the entire country. In many cultures, women are traditionally expected to be silent in leadership, education, or worship and that's extremely wrong,i tell you yhe truth this single act has taken potentials to graves,it has hidden potentials for a long time.It can be corrected by upholding dignity, value, and equality without erasing cultural identity. The Bible shows powerful women like Deborah, Priscilla, and Mary Magdalene actively shaping faith and history so imagine they were never given the opportunity to express themselves.
Adding a new tradition isn’t about being religious,it’s about living intentionally.Traditions shape what we remember, what we value, and ultimately who we become. So if am to add a tradition then it'll be making sure wisdom is passed down through proverbs and stories. In a digital age, we've totally forgotten what it means to take record our lives meaningfully so I'll say there should be a weekly or monthly habit of writing spiritual insights, answered prayers, dreams, and lessons for future generations.
Tradition should preserve wisdom, not prevent growth.
When a tradition harms, limits, or blinds us,it’s worth prayerfully rethinking it.

It’s been a long time since I heard that women were only being limited to the kitchen. Does it still exist in this 21st Century?
