As we all know, education plays a vital role in our lives no matter how less we want to look at it. It helps in the branding of whatever you do or found in,though not a basic criteria of doing things right.
The fact about our educational system, scheme of work or curriculum is that, the best level where every subject matters and contributes to all aspects of building a good life of a person is from the preschool through secondary school.
Preschool makes a child learn how to hold their pencils in starting to write, draw out strokes and the likes. This is a start to every man's life just like a baby's first crawl, first calling of baba/mama or the first smile.
All through to learning alphabets, numbers, roman figure, state & capital etc to primary and secondary level where various subjects like integrated science, agricultural science, social studies and so on.
Based on my country, my fellow citizens would recollect that based on student's desire for their future career, three classes are provided in senior secondary school to be selected so as to focus more on the path meant for their future career and not mixing it up.
For Science class, we have the core subjects of physics, chemistry, biology and further mathematics (popularly called further maths).
For Commercial class, we have core subjects like Commerce, Accounting and for Art class we have core subjects like Fine Arts, Social studies, Geography if I'm not mistaken while every other courses like Agricultural science, food and nutrition, CRS/IRS(Christian/Islamic Religious Knowledge) etc are all general subjects of which the teacher might even combine the 3 classes together if they have the space that would occupy the three classes.
All these are great foundations created for the future of every student just so they don't end up graduating and becoming irrelevant to the society but I guess all these goes to waste as soon as we get into the tertiary institution which is so sad.
All irrelevant and useless courses are found in the scheme or curriculum of higher institutions, wasting the previous time of the students and stressing their mental health to reading or studying courses that won't be useful to them outside the four walls of the institution.
Surprisingly, these courses are still taken by bad lecturers who would even take life out of you if care is not taken.
I remember back in school those days, studying computer science would have been the greatest decision just like the people studying medicine, nursing, Science Laboratory Technology and so on but it ended up being a mess after resuming as a student when most of the courses are just not relevant and this was only known after graduating and realizing the fact that almost everything was a waste of time.
Imagine in a world of advanced technology where frontend developer, backend developer, cybersecurity, AI engineer, software/hardware engineer, data analyst etc roles are well paying jobs and students are been taught assembly language, c++, Numerical value, Operational Research, etc as core courses for a whole session, carrying 4 units when it's not even relevant in the outside world.
My stand is that they can all be merged or even scrapped out.
We have the relevant ones which are Java, Database, software engineering which are very meaningful and fortunately taken by great lecturers while others like Graphics design animation lecturer's presence in class can be counted throughout the session but all the same, they are the few of all courses made compulsory for students just like the unnecessary ones.
If only the tertiary institutions can be like the primary and secondary level who only based on relevant subjects that would be useful for students' next level but most graduates' future becomes blank as soon as they're out of the four walls of their schools because the basics of most of the job requirements and qualities needed in the job market are not what are being taught in schools.
Only those who seek external knowledge or has the knowledge before gaining admission and had the knowledge of what awaits them on the outside world are the only ones free from the danger of employment irrelevance.

Not every secondary schools even focus on the importance things. Some make students offer all the subjects both science, art and social sciences.
It is well, lol.

Awnnn thanks for the curation.
I would say this is actually the first time I'm knowing about this cos those kind of schools wants to finish the students. Imagine a science student still struggling with other classes subjects again
Itβs our pleasure!
Yeah, I was surprised too when I found out. Itβs not a lot of schools that practice such but there are.

Hmmm, a very great analysis. The problem is not in those courses but the curriculum which has been the same over time. Thanks for sharing.
Yeahhhh exactly. You get the point
The curriculum is not updated to the things happening at the moment. Just the same archaic curriculum
Yeah. It's well

That's very true, unfortunately no step is taking to rebrand our curriculum and make it up-to-date and relevant to the demand of present day.
