Giving People The Level Of Respect I Want.

When my friends talk about me, one major thing they say is that I can be very playful and don’t care so much about so many things asides disrespect. This doesn’t mean that I don’t care about many things but I may not be heavy on them just like how I’m heavy on respect.

What does respect mean to me and am I big on it?

Respect means regard to me. The way you regard me, the way I regard you and treat you means respect to me. One thing I take seriously is the way people talk to me and mostly starts from greetings. I’m an African girl and I am very heavy on greetings.

I find it disrespectful when someone walks up to me to tell me about something but fails to greet me at first. Here, I’m not trying to say that I want the person to worship me or greet me like an adult but greeting me means you regard me.

I’m not the type who always waits for someone to greet her first. I can see you and greet you first and it isn’t a big deal but when I greet you first, the way you respond says a lot and I can tell if you respect me or not.
One basic part of respect or what respect means to me is greetings.

Have I ever been in a situation where I was disrespected or I was being disrespectful?

I’ve been in these two situations. The fact that I don’t like to be disrespected doesn’t mean that I’m a saint but instead of me sharing a story of how I disrespected someone, let me share a story of when someone disrespected me.
I know I can be that short girl or that girl who has a very small body and people take advantage of that a lot.
That day, I was at a friend’s place when his girlfriend walked in and when she got in, she challenged me for not coming to collect her bag when she was coming towards us.

I was shocked and I felt very bad because how will someone look at me and call me a maid because that was what she did right there. Finally, the so called boyfriend made her realize that I’m not his maid but a friend and she then apologized but I can tell that she’s still being disrespectful.

And if you know when I was being disrespectful, it’s just about an old woman I was about to beat many years back because she accused me wrongly and also threatened to kill me. When I wanted to beat her, that was when some older people came in to solve the problem.

Disrespectful can be very annoying and can even send your helper away for those who understand. Let’s be respectful no matter how little the other person may be to us.
