Visit to the Botanical Garden – Part 3 and Final / Visite au jardin Botanique - 3 ème partie et fin

A majestic alley of bamboo stretched out before us, forming a natural tunnel of striking beauty. I was fairly sure it was bamboo, but out of curiosity, I checked on Google to be certain. And indeed, it was: a species imported from China as part of the acclimatization of exotic plants in the Mediterranean. And I must say, the adaptation was a success, the bamboo had taken root perfectly in our region.

As solid as a rock, this impressive bamboo had caught our attention during our last visit to the botanical garden with the kids. Its density and sturdiness had truly impressed us.
According to Google, bamboo is even stronger than steel, surprising, isn’t it? People even build with it, especially in Asia.

The stalks, packed tightly together, formed an almost impenetrable barrier to the light. It felt as though the daylight dimmed as we moved down the path, like night falling suddenly in the middle of the afternoon. Then, as we emerged from that corridor of shadows, a brilliant sun enveloped us, almost blinding, a striking contrast, like stepping between two worlds.

These are no doubt images that will stay etched forever in the memory of my two boys. With all the explanations, and the fact that bamboo is a panda's favorite food, their fascination only grew stronger. How could one forget such a discovery, especially when you grew up with the wise and powerful panda from cartoon movies as a childhood companion?

Une allée majestueuse de bambous s’étendait devant nous, formant un tunnel naturel d’une beauté saisissante. Il me semblait bien qu’il s’agissait de bambous, mais, par curiosité, j’ai vérifié sur Google pour en avoir le cœur net. Effectivement, c’en était : une espèce importée de Chine dans le cadre de l’acclimatation des plantes exotiques en Méditerranée. Et il faut dire que l’adaptation a été une réussite, le bambou s’est parfaitement enraciné chez nous.

Solide comme le roc, ce bambou imposant, nous l’avions découvert lors de notre dernière visite au jardin botanique avec les enfants. Sa densité et sa robustesse nous avaient vraiment impressionnés.
Selon Google, le bambou est même plus solide que l’acier , étonnant , non ? On construit même avec , notamment en Asie.

Les tiges, serrées les unes contre les autres, formaient une barrière presque infranchissable à la lumière. On aurait dit que le jour déclinait à mesure que nous avancions dans l’allée, comme si la nuit tombait soudainement en plein après-midi. Puis, en sortant de ce couloir d’ombres, un soleil éclatant nous a enveloppés, presque aveuglants , un contraste saisissant, comme un passage entre deux mondes.

Ce sont sans doute des images qui resteront gravées à jamais dans la mémoire de mes deux garçons. Avec toutes ces explications, et le fait de savoir que le bambou est la nourriture favorite du panda, leur fascination n’en a été que plus grande. Comment oublier une telle découverte, surtout quand on a grandi avec le sage et le puissant panda des films cartoons comme compagnon d’enfance ?
