Love in an instant

Andrew just moved to the city to begin his studies. It was a beautiful Monday morning. The weather was just right, giving him the feeling that it was going to be a good first day at school.

He was excited about resuming. So much so that he didn't sleep much. He got prepared early and was on his way to school. He decided to get a cup of coffee on his way. He branched by a coffee shop and ordered a cup to kick start his day.

As he drank his coffee at the shop, a lady walked in. She was the most beautiful lady he had seen that morning. She was tall, had brown hair and a majestic walking style. She had the kind of smile that could melt any heart. Andrew was lost in wonder, as he watched her order a cup of coffee.

"How could one person look flawless?" he asked himself.

She took her coffee and left, while Andrew couldn't help but stare helplessly.
A few minutes later, Andrew finished his coffee, and left the coffee shop for school. He had a vivid image of the lady stuck in his head. Indeed, she was not the kind of lady a man tends to forget after seeing her for the first time.

He got to the college environment, and was having difficulty locating the venue for his class. As he stood by a hallway, confused, he heard a voice from behind.

"Are you lost?" the person asked

Andrew turned and to his surprise, it was the lady he saw at the coffee shop. Andrew struggled to find his words as he seemed to be overwhelmed by her beauty.

"I'm looking for the venue for my astronomy class" Andrew said.

"Oh, I'm taking that class too. That's where I'm headed. Come with me" she said.

"Alright. Thank you." Andrew said as he followed her.
“what’s your name” she asked
“I’m Andrew. What’s yours?”
“I’m Claire” she replied.
Her voice was soft and calm. She had an aura that displayed confidence. Her green eyes were so enchanting, they had Andrew questioning his choice of blue as his favorite color. He wondered how something green could look so unbelievably good.
“We’re here” Claire said as they walked into the lecture hall.
They sat next to each other and it was 2 hours of Andrew struggling to concentrate on the lecture. He kept stealing glances at her at the slightest opportunity. Claire noticed it, but she pretended like she didn’t.
After the class, they got talking.

“Did you enjoy the class?” Claire asked, with a smirk on her face, knowing fully well that Andrew didn’t concentrate.
“Yes I did” Andrew lied.
“I guess I’ll see you in tomorrow’s class” Claire said as she made her way to leave.
“Wait. Please can I have your number? You’re the first friend I’ve made in this city so far” Andrew asked.
“Sure, give me your phone” she said, as she punched her number in his phone.
“See you later, Andrew”.
“Bye Claire” Andrew replied.

Over the next couple of days, they got closer. Claire got to know more about Andrew and was starting to fall for him. Andrew was already head over heels in love with her, but he didn’t make any move because he wasn’t sure if she felt the same way.

Three weeks later, Andrew decided it was time he risked it and asked Claire out.

“Have you heard about the eclipse expected to happen tomorrow?” Andrew asked Claire during their conversation while waiting for their Professor to arrive.

“Yes, I know about it. I’m so excited to see it. I’ve always wanted to see an eclipse and this would be my very first opportunity to see one” Claire said with excitement on her face.

“Would you like to witness the eclipse with me, at my place? I live on the third floor of a five storey building. We can have a really nice view from there” Andrew asked.

“Alright, that would be nice. I’ll be at your place tomorrow” Claire replied.

Andrew’s face lit up on hearing that. This was his chance to tell her how he felt, in the perfect setting.
Andrew prepared the next day for Claire’s visit. He had drinks, food and music ready. He made sure the atmosphere was perfect. As soon as he heard a knock on his door, he knew it was Claire.
“Wow, you look stunning” Andrew said as he opened the door, letting her in.

“Thank you” she replied with a smile on her face.

“Quick, let’s go watch the sky, the eclipse could happen any minute now” Andrew said, taking Claire’s hand and leading her to his window.

They both watched in awe as the sky suddenly turned dark for a while. It was the eclipse happening right in front of them. Andrew looked at Claire and she looked so ravishing, even in the dark.
Just as the brightness of the sun came back, Andrew held her hands and spoke

“Claire, I’ve been in love with you from the first day I saw you. I want nothing more than to do life with you. I want you to be my girlfriend, will you be mine? Andrew asked.

“I’m sorry Andrew, I have a man already” Claire replied

Andrew was devastated. He couldn’t hide the disappointment on his face. It was more of disappointment mixed with sadness.

“You need to see your face right now” Claire said suddenly as she burst into laughter.

“I was joking. I’m not in any relationship, and yes, I will be your girlfriend. I was afraid you’d never ask” Claire said.

Andrew lit up with joy. He was ready to give her the world.
That was the beginning of a special relationship that blossomed into a beautiful marriage years later.
