Apple love

Prince Jonathan was the type of person to keep to himself. He preferred being alone. Most times, he would spend an entire day in his room painting. He was the Prince, but it seemed like he had more interest in the arts than in kingdom matters.

Almost all the eligible ladies in the Kingdom desired him. They were in awe of him. Many of them wished Jonathan would just end their misery and plant a kiss on their lip, or better still, put a ring on their fingers. Jonathan was a very fine man. He had a well designed face like it was custom made. A handsome man indeed.

Jonathan was no stranger to the ladies doing whatever it took to get his attention. He was the Prince afterall. As if that was not enough, his handsomeness made him the most sought after male in the kingdom.

However Jonathan was notorious for resisting the advances from women. It got to the point where his Mother, the queen Emily, would introduce him to ladies in the hopes that he would find interest in one. All to no avail.
Queen Emily needed grandchildren, but most of all, she wanted her son to experience unconditional, romantic love.

"Jonathan, I need to speak with you" Queen Emily said as she opened the door to his room.

"What is it Mother?" Jonathan asked as he stood up from the chair he sat on while he painted.

"When are you going to find a wife? When are you going to introduce a woman to me?" Queen Emily asked.

"Mother, I thought we have been through this. I haven't met anyone who excites me yet" Johnathan replied.

"how will you meet someone when you spend almost your entire time in this room? You're not getting any younger. I'm not getting any younger. I want to carry my grandchildren, Jonathan!" Queen Emily said in sadness.

"Come with me to Irene's ball tonight. Perhaps you might find someone that captures your interest" Queen Emily appealed.

"Alright mom. I'll come" Johnathan replied just to please his mother.

Quickly, word had spread that the highly sought after Prince Jonathan would be attending Lady Irene's ball. The queen made certain of that. This was a big deal because Johnathan barely showed up for these events. Every eligible lady in the kingdom prepared to look their most stunning in the hopes of charming the prince.

Perhaps, this would be the night the prince would surrender to the all powerful feeling, love.

Jonathan was on his way to join his mother at lady Irene's ball when he spotted a lady looking so desperately at an apple on a tree.

He came down from his carriage and watched her attempt to climb the tree just to get to the apple. He was intrigued because that was unusual for a lady to try

"Excuse me miss, what are you trying to do?" Jonathan asked.

"I need to get that apple there" she replied.

As soon as Jonathan got a good look at her face, he was amazed. She was incredibly beautiful.

"Miss, you shouldn't be trying to climb a tree" Jonathan said as the lady tried climbing the tree.

"Why? Because I'm a woman? No one decides what I can and cannot do. Besides, I used to climb trees as a child" she replied.

Jonathan was amazed. No lady had spoken to him in that manner before. She didn't seem to care who he was.
"Do you know who you're talking to?" Jonathan asked.
"Yes, you're the prince" she replied.
"Now come help me climb and get that apple" she further said.
Jonathan was even more amazed. For the first time, he met someone who didn't care about who he was.

Jonathan helped her get the apple. Then he grabbed her hands. She looked straight into his eyes. He looked into hers. Her eyes were the best shade of blue he had ever seen. There was so much attraction at that moment. Their chemistry was unmatched. Just as they were about to share a kiss, Jonathan's servant interrupted.

"We are running late for the ball, my Prince" said the servant.

The lady turned away to leave, but Johnathan held her hand.

"What is your name?" Jonathan asked her.
"Selene" she replied.
"You should head to the ball" Selene said with a smile on her face that made Jonathan melt. She planted a kiss on Johnathan's cheek and left.
Jonathan was left in awe. He kept replaying every moment with her in his head as he made his way to the ball.

At the ball, Jonathan was approached by so many ladies. He could tell that they weren't being themselves. They were all just trying to impress him by all means. None of them really caught his attention the way Selene did.

The next day, Jonathan sought to find Selene. He just had to see her again. He decided to take a walk in the hopes that he would miraculously run into her. After hours of searching with no success, he decided to rest a bit by the quiet beach before going home. Suddenly, he saw Selene standing on the other side of the beach, enjoying the view.

"I just spent my entire day searching for you only to find you here" Jonathan said as he walked up to her.

"Oh wow. Does this mean you have been thinking about me?" Selene asked with a flirty smirk on her face.

"Yes I have" Jonathan replied.

"I have been thinking about you too" she replied.

They spent the rest of the day together, talking and getting to know each other. Within a week, they got closer. The queen noticed that Johnathan left the house more and he was always happy whenever he returned.

Jonathan and Selene were soon in love. He decided to introduce Selene to his mother because he intended to marry her.

"Mother, I have something to tell you" Jonathan said to his mother as Selene stood by his side.

"What is it and who is this young lady you have brought here?" The queen asked.

"Her name is Selene and she is the one I want to marry. I have come to ask for your blessing" Jonathan replied.

The queen was happy and shocked at the same time. She couldn't contain her joy.

"Come young lady. Let us have a chat" the queen said as she took Selene's hand.

"Jonathan, wait for us in the waiting room. This won't take long" The queen further said.

After their chat, the queen decided that Selene was a good fit for her son. She liked Selene already. So the queen gave her blessing.

Eventually, news spread that the prince was getting married, and the wedding was an exquisite one.
