Finally free.

FINALLY FREE

I am finally free. I can finally live freely like I always wanted. Of course, you wouldn't bring me here if I hadn't decided to finally take a flight (run away).

I am Melisa, the daughter of King Ganga. The one and only king is known for his ruthless acts. He couldn't be stopped because he had the kind of magic that no one could ever defeat.

Being his first daughter, I was always inside the palace. The palace felt like a cage to me because I was not allowed to see the world outside. I was always made to go through countless magic lessons, which my father believed would help me become more powerful than any other person.

Everyone believes a woman can never become a king, but my father didn't believe that. So he always keeps me indoors with loads of magic books to learn and become powerful so that no one will be a problem to me when it is time to choose the next king.

My father always thought he was doing me a favor by doing this, but unknown to him, I never wanted a life like this. I wanted to live like the birds of the sky, living a free life and not having to obey anybody, but I was living the opposite of that.

The thought of running away always comes to mind, but I always tell myself, “My father would find me, no matter where I went.” He has the best trackers in the kingdom to himself.

The Lord finally heard my prayers. One night, my ray of hope came through a window. My knight in shining armor came to save me, his princess, distressed. I had trouble sleeping that night, and I kept turning on my bed. I couldn't get rid of the feeling that something big was going to happen that night.

I stood up and went to sit beside my window. The cool breeze blew on my face, and I felt relieved. All of a sudden, I saw a message bird coming straight to my window. I wondered who it could be from. I never received a letter from anyone because I never had any friends, nor did I know any of my father’s family members. Not only that, but I was always alone. So I wondered who sent me a message through a bird in the middle of the night.

I took the letter, and the bird flew away immediately like it had been instructed to not wait for an answer even for a second. I opened the letter, and what was written there shocked me. It brought both happiness and sadness.

“Dear Princess Melisa,

This is from your fated mate. I am so happy to be destined to be with you. It is a blessing from the moon goddess. I promise to bring you out of your cage, even with my life on the line.

You can say I am your knight in shining armor. Until we meet again, your highness.

I can't even believe the letter is real. I had a mate. How?

I am so happy and sad because I think I will never be able to be with him, not when I am still my father's puppet. I would have to find a way to escape from my dad first.

I planned and figured out I would need to take my flight (run away). I wrote back to my prince in shining armor. We both planned that would work with no loopholes or setbacks. I was getting happier, knowing I would be out in a short time from now.

My father was busy with kingdom affairs, so I had time to plan my escape and put it into action. Our plan was a masterpiece. I had to behave very well, take care of my dad, not make any mistakes, and not make anyone suspicious. I went along with the plan, making sure no one was angry with me throughout the day. When it was exactly midnight. My knight in shining armor jumped into my bedroom through the window with the help of our maid. We were able to complete a magic that could take someone very far away from where they were currently.

That was how I gained my long-awaited wish. I was freed at last. I later found out the name of my knight in shining armor was Kelvin. The illegitimate son of the king of Parso, the land of wonders. From then on, I lived happily with Kelvin, since he was just living a simple life. This was the kind of love I had been longing for.
