When Brian met Jane, He was just a 15 years old naive boy, He always acted awkward around her trying to hide his feelings. Jane was a beautiful blonde, She was described by many as "Beauty with brains." She sat at a desk directly in front of him. Anytime a teacher asked a question in class, She would always tap her fingers on her desk repeatedly before answering.
"Why do you do that?" Brian curiously asked one morning. "Do what?" Jane responded.
"Taping your fingers on your desk repeatedly as if seeking an answer from your desk." Jane let out a smile and said "I just think better when I do that."
From that day they became friends, doing assignments together, studying together and discussing how life after high school will be, their fears and their ambitions.
After the school has closed for the day, Brian walked Jane to her house. Along the way he finally summoned courage and told her what's been going on in his mind. "I really love you Jane." She stopped and stared right into his eyes, Blushing. "I love you too." Then they both laughed and hugged each other and That was the beginning of a new chapter.
But love is fragile and depends on the maturity and understanding of both partners.
The problem started when Jane became close with David-the brightest student in the class. They now spent more time in class together just doing their assignments and solving some past questions. Since Jane wasn't good in mathematics, David helped her in understanding better.
Rumors began spreading that Jane and David were now having a secret affair. Brian felt a sting of betrayal and shame, When he couldn't hold it any longer, He confronted Jane about it.
"What's going on between you and David?" He asked Jane.
"There's nothing going on, David is just a friend that helps me with school work. Nothing more I promise."
"It's alright, I understand." Brain responded, Even though he didn't believe her.
After that day Jane noticed changes in Brian's attitude, he stopped taking to her as he used to and he began distancing himself from her. Whenever she asked him what the problem was, He would give flimsy excuses.
One sunny afternoon after classes had ended for the day, Jane decided to confront Brian about the changes she noticed.
"What's wrong with you lately, definitely there's something up your sleeve you're not telling me about." Jane said to Brian.
"You seem so busy and obsessed with David, everyone knows it so nevermind."
"Really is that what this is about? Anything you think or feel, then so be it. I don't have time to start giving explanations."
"If you don't feel the need to explain then nevermind. We can go out separate ways." Brian said to Jane.
Just like that a once strong relationship came to ruin. They ended things without saying the real things they actually felt.
Years went by and they both went separate ways to pursue their goals in life. Brian became a lawyer and owned one of the biggest law firms in the state while Jane became an accountant and worked with a reputable bank.
On a sunny afternoon, fate put the former love birds in the same restaurant. Brian went to place his order at the counter when he saw a familiar face beside him.
"Jane? Is this you?" Brian asked.
Jane to turned sideways to have a look at the person talking to her.
"Brian! Wow it's been a long time where have you been?" They both embraced warmly.
The duo sat at a round table opposite each other. "I thought you would fight for our love then." Brian said softly.
"My relationship with David was just platonic, We were just friends." Jane replied.
"I used to think you were both lovers then."
"But you never talked out things with me properly." Jane said.
"I thought I had already lost you to someone else." Brian replied.
"It's alright we weren't mentally matured enough then. I loved you then and even right now I still have a soft spot for you." Jane said to Brian, Looking him straight in the eyes.
"I loved you too and I believe fate made our paths cross again for a reason."
They exchanged contacts right there, then after a couple of weeks they became lovers again. They got married to each other after a courtship of 8 months.
"I can't believe this is us, living happily married." Brian said to his wife one cool evening as they sat on the couch watching a movie together.
" This as always been my dream to be married to you, I feel so fulfilled now that we brought it to a reality." Jane said, As her face broadened into a wide smile.
