Anita and David were married for 3 years without any fruit of the womb and as each month passed, Anita became expectant of any signs of pregnancy but none came. Unfortunately the pressure from David's family became high and this was a source of worry to the couple.

"When will you be able to conceive a child for us?" David's mother nagged at Anita. "You must have done a lot of bad things in the past, that's why you can't have a child." These words being said my David's mother pierced her heart like a thorn.

Anita tried enduring her mother in-laws harsh words but she couldn't do that for long as it began taking a toll on her emotional health, bringing her into a state of depression.

David on the other hand, always defended his wife, telling his family that the fault could be from any of them. "Mama, I and my wife should both get checked up and besides, we are not God that gives children." His family all turned deaf ears to what David had said.

"Perhaps she's even cursed, that's the reason she can't conceive a child." They whispered among themselves.

The pressure at home was too much for Anita to endure so she resorted to withdrawing to herself, locking herself in and being alone.

One evening, David came back from work and sat beside his wife who was already lost in thoughts. "Honey, I think we should both go to the hospital for medical checkups let's know where the problem is from." David said to his wife.

"Yes that would be a perfect idea." Anita replied her husband, her heart filled with hope.

The following week, the couple booked an appointment with a doctor at the hospital. They arrived at the hospital on a cool morning and the lab attendants ran some tests on both David and Anita and were told to come back in 3 days time for the test.

On the due date, the couple arrived the hospital to collect their tests results. The lab tests revealed that David's sperm count was alarmingly low, hereby that was the cause of their childlessness.Upon seeing the tests results Anita felt relieved that it hasn't been at fault all along, but at the same time she felt angered that David's family had put the blame of their childlessness on her for so long.

"I'm sorry honey." David said, as tears rolled freely down his cheeks while holding her hands. "I'm sorry I have been the one at fault all these while and my family put the blame on you". He continued.

"It's okay, I believe we will pass through this phase." Anita replied her husband, trying to comfort him.

As weeks passed by and Anita's belly grew, the love and support from both David and his family increased towards her. Everyone in the house took her like an egg and gradually she forgot the pain they caused her way back.

One faithful Sunday evening, Anita put to bed a bouncing baby boy. "This is a dream come true! I am finally a father" David exclaimed with joy written all over his face.

After Anita had given birth, the news was spread across to family and friends as they came to rejoice with her.

"Oh, I am now a grandmother." David's mother said, jumping up and singing praises to God for answering their prayers.

After some few days, Anita and her new born baby were discharged from the hospital and her husband drove them home.

Back at home, Anita sat on the couch carrying her baby on her arms, with gratitude and joy in her heart, her days of crying and emotional torment had finally come to an end.

She became loved by all her in-laws, as her mother in-law was all over her, asking what she needed. "My dear daughter, how is our baby? If you need anything else please don't hesitate to call me, you know you don't have to stress yourself over anything because you just gave birth." David's mother spoke to Anita, with a tone of happiness in her voice.

After a while in the cool evening, David's mother sat beside Anita and held her hands. "I'm really sorry for everything I put you through, sorry for blaming you wrongly and causing you pains. I never knew what the actual problem was and I pray you forgive and forget me for I was wrong all along." She said regretfully.

"It's okay mama,God knows best. I have forgiven you long ago."

"Thank you my daughter." Mama replied, grateful.

They named the child "chukwudi" meaning God is alive.
